i need the game!

I've seen graphics on youtube and I don't like what I saw

The environment looks nice, the scale is amazing, and the main character animations look pretty good.  But the zormbies still look like crap and survival atmosphere is stil almost nin existant

so you have to fear the death the whole time because you have to find something to eat, have no ammo and whatever but there is no survival atmosphere? if you would say there is no horror atmosphere i would say that is maybe true because of the still stupid looking zombies but i absolutely get the survival atmosphere of the game even without playing it^^

The atmosphere can actually be pretty incredible. Literally crawling your way through abandoned towns can feel unbelievibly unsettling if you're by yourself. And some encounters with other players can feel tense as hell, unlike any encounters I would have in any another game. As you mentioned, the sense of scale is great, thanks to a massive map and a great draw distance, and this helps with the atmosphere immensely, it really makes you feel isolated and alone. You just have to play it dude, a YT video or 2 doesn't do it justice. It has it's problems, but it's FAR from complete, it's an alpha mod. The zombie animations are fucked up, and you'll experience your fair share of glitches, but it's not game breaking, the mod is still awesome.

Got Day Z up and running. Haven't had to work that hard to get a game running since 1998. All the different stuff to download... and then it was pitch dark.

This is going to be fun. There isn't' a flashlight in the game is there?

I think pressing "L" activates the flashlight - I played an hour or so in complete darkness before looking that up lol

Woot !!! had my best run so far since i started one week ago.

I started in Komarovo, run for the barns and deerstand till Bor (which is a shitty place btw), then Drozino, where I got something to drink ^^.
Then I got west to Zelnogordsk, where I looted my first supermarket. Found a Alice bag a map, a watch, a fuckton of food, bandage, and drinks, then I ran another farm to get a Lee enfield, a bottle, and a crossbow !!!!

I'll stop for now but tomorrow I'll farm the Green mountain for its military loot. Then, it will be time to run for the North !

I can finally say that this game has a long learning curve, that you need luck, stealth, you need to find yourself on the map, check zombies pattern... I've made too much spawn where I did not knew where to go, what to get, and ended up starving or by thirst ^^, like yesterday when I run for the Green mountain and ended up in a military camp full of gun but without food and I died there in the middle of an armory ^^.
