Forums - General - What ever happened to Heroes? (tv show)

At one point it was the most popular TV show of all time...then it just kinda died...I miss it :(

...uhh...ill just put my favorite quote of all time here.

"Welcome to Pain, the second of three...You have dealt the first...now deal with me!!"

Yes at one point, 17 million people watched it.

Yay!!!

It was not most popular, just popular enough for NBC to not cancel it. It sold really well on DVD so they kept it around for a while like they do with the show Community. But then not even DVD could save it and they cancelled it.

I only watched the first season. Loved it.

er...not true. Season one was, as they say, phenominally popular, (around 16 million viewers in the us at its peak which is actually very good. There was even a planned spinoff series that never saw the light of day), season two (which was kinda dull compared to season one in many peoples opinions) dipped slightly in the ratings (11-12 million at it's peak, still pretty good).

Series creator Timothy Kring then had to appear at conventions in an attempt to smooth the crowds of angry fans over, admitting they screwed up with series 2, and promising fans that things would be back on track with season 3. Does nobody here remember this???? Season 3 arrived, ratings dipped again, and many hailed the show as a desperate mess, a mere shadow of it's former self etc. As I recall the second half of season 3 (I think it was the 'Fugitives' storyline) was actually pretty decent, but it was obviously too little too late, as the ratings continued to fall with each new episode. This continued throughout season 4 until nbc pulled the plug. At the time I remember reading interviews with Kring where he was saying:'I'm pretty confident they'll let me make a tv movie to finish the series', but alas they never did.

I worked in a comic shop at the time of season one and two's release and I remember it seemed like the biggest damn thing out there at the time but by mid season 3 hardly anyone was talking about it at all. There was barely any notice of it's cancellation as many people didn't even realise it was still running.

In my opinion Heroes died a slow painful death as a result of (possibly justified) angry fanboy backlash... but maybe I'm wrong. Shame, season one was pretty damn good.

Haha most of what I just said is covered in the graph posted previously.

The show started great - I was a big fan. Then just got bad, then so bad it was unwatchable, then it survived another year. Even the first year it had an occasional clunker of an episode, but the rest was so good you could ignore it.

Then the clunkers became the rule, and the good ones became rare. Then it became a silly self marketing charade of itself. I think the producers didn't realize where the talent was, and the show became untrue to it's own universe.

It had it's moment, and was great for a bit. I miss when it was good too.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Heroes was a great show that happened to get really crappy because of awful writing in it's later seasons. Especially the fourth season which was wretched.

It's a shame because it really had some great characters like Sylar and Hiro.

I liked the show but I always thought that the good guys were way too powerful, Peter could have any power he wanted, Claire was invincible and Hiro was the master of time and space. Even Matt turned out to be fricken op. I was always rooting for the powerless people like Noah and Ando, but even Ando got superpowers later on.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I started watching the first season about half way through (well I made sure to catch up on the story then got into it) The first season was really good, and the second season was cool too... I got bored of it part way through the 3rd season though. (around the time Kristen Bell stopped being in it)

I decided to watch it again about a year ago, so streamed the first and second season online... but again got bored in the middle of season 3.

I stopped watching after the first season. I watched a little bit of the second, but it just didn't have the same charm. Is it still on? I don't even know anybody who watches it anymore.

Was really good at first, but got much worse in the later seasons.

I LOVE ICELAND!

As everyone else i too enjoyed the first season. It was pretty awesome actually. Couldn't make it through season 2 as it got too horrible in my opinion. They had no idea where to take the story and introduced way too many characters.
