Forums - Nintendo - I sold my DS Lite like you guys said to

If I put a buy it now option, I usually do it a good bit higher than what I want to sale it for.

So starting at $35 was good and you were expecting up to $50, so I'd actually put something like $70. Problem is if you priced out those games you included in the bundle, you actually sold it for a pretty low price. Not a bad thing for your first sale though. A lot of people sale their first things a little low. For one you have to build a reputation and for two, you generally just don't know.

For your next sale at some point in the future, be sure to continue your pre-sale investigation to include any individual price for each item in your bundle and take into account the shipping costs as well as ebay/paypal fees associated with the sale.

But for $50 for a DSLite and some quality games... not bad at all for your very first time.

Couple other pointers.

Don't ship item until AFTER you have received FULL payment via paypal.
Ship with tracking number and put tracking number into Ebay for proof.
Don't do feedback until buyer does.
Make sure to send email after auction end, after payment, at shipping, and after they receive to remind them for feedback.
Lastly, always be 100% honest in your ebay sales. That always goes a long way.

EDIT: How much was Gamestop going to give you for that stuff?

Gamestop would have given me up to 50 dollars for the DS Lite, but only during that limited promotion, and only if I put the money towards a new regular 3DS (didn't apply to the XL anyway). But it didn't have serial number so they wouldn't take it anyway.

But I haven't made a Paypal account yet, I'm trying to do that now, so maybe that's why he hasn't payed for it yet.

I personally would have kept it. A Link to the Past GBA is worth a pretty penny. Might have gotten 20 dollars for it by itself atleast.

Those where some good games

Which Pokemon game was that?

The reason I ask is because, back when I was a cop, another cop friend of mine came across a bunch of video games.  He kept them all but he gave me a few Pokemon games as a joke.  I can't remember which ones they were (I've never played a Pokemon game in my entire life) but when I took them to Gamestop, along with a couple of my own games (PS2 titles Disgea 1 and Shadowhearts Covenant--I'd bought them from a local video store for $10), I wound up with a fully paid for DSi and a horizontal stand for my Wii!!  And this was at Gamestop!  He was pretty pissed when I told him how much money I got for those games. I'm pretty sure the DSi had just come out and I think I put the receipt in the box.  I probably still have it.

Anyway, the point is that Pokemon games are (or were) worth a lot of money.  Look into seeing what that game is worth on its own.  I think you did the right thing, though.  You sold something you didn't want for a price you were happy with.  I just think you could have gotten more.

As an added bonus, here's a pic I took late last year or early this year of my portables--this was before I had gotten a Vita. One DSi,  Two 3DS's, Two PSP's, one DS Lite (I had two but I can't find the white one anywhere), and three phat DS's.  I don't play anything but the 3DS's and the PSP's so maybe I should follow in your foot steps and make an eBay account.  On second thought, nah.  I'll keep 'em!

i would have paid you 100$ for that....
you are too kind dude :D
those games are priceless

Well he still hasn't paid for it. I suppose I could relist it if I wanted to be a jerk.

I have the same colour DS Lite. Seems like you sold it bit under price but you seem happy with it. Enjoy your 3DS XL when you get it. :)

Here's a list of Pokemon games when I looked 'em up on Amazon.com: All I can say is WOW! http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=pokemon+red

WOW!!!

I made a paypal account, and I connected to my bank account, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. Apparently its going to deposit a few cents and then I have to report back how much it deposited, and then it will be confirmed. So I guess the buyer couldn't really pay if he wanted to, cuz my bank account isn't verified for Paypal yet.
