Forums - Nintendo - I sold my DS Lite like you guys said to

While GameStop is far from perfect, your anger at them in this case is misplaced.
They require the serial number for tracking purposes. Any store worth its salt is going to run a check on a gaming system before it resells into make sure it is not stolen property. That is standard operating procedure. And not doing that has gotten Gamestop in big trouble in the past.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Did I ever mention that I have six DS systems. I don't bring it up very often, I know. Anyway, there's a reason I have six DS systems. Now, you also know why.  I knew what your problem was before I even clicked on the thread.  It's probably going to be an issue with the 3DS, too.  Nintendo likes to print the serial number on a sticker that is easily removed or the print rubs off if you actually play with the device.  It sucks.

Yeah, I'm thinking they do it on purpose to prevent stores like Gamestop from supplying as much used hardware, therefore leaving them with the option of buying new.

 Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Just sell it on your own to someone. You'll be able to get double what Gamestop would give you.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Things without serial numbers are usually stolen so stores won't take them even if you have a receipt and box and such. If a store does take stuff without serials numbers then stay away, they're probably crooks. It's just too much of a risk to buy things if the number has been rubbed off.

Selling on ebay is simple. Just sign up and do it.

Just sell it on Amazon, Ebay, or Craigslist. But if you sell it on craiglist make sure to meet in a public place and only take cash. Oh and make sure you have some other people with you too.

For some reason, bringing people with you triggered this

*checks Vita*

Well, you're right.  In fact, I checked my PSP and that sticker is totally gone.  Not even faded--it doesn't even exist anymore!  For what it's worth, the Vita does seem to have a pretty high quality sticker on it. Easily of a higher quality than the 3DS!  :p

Don't sell it to Gamestop! Just don't...
Sell it on Ebay.

I guess I'll just sell it on ebay or something. I don't have a paypal account or anything. I just recently got my debit card...
