Forums - General - You know you're a spammer when...

How do I check how many posts I have made this year and how many I average per day in 2012?

So far I average 8/day over the years.

Maybe not "spamming" but nothing irks me more than when I see somebody posting several times in a row in their own thread in a desperate attempt to make the thread a success. If over 50% of the posts in your own thread come from you, or if you post five times in a row in your own thread, just let it go.

Like, I do that personally, but I do that in all threads. I post alot on the topics because they interest me.

And the topics I make interest me. If they didn't I wouldn't post in them (and I have made threads where I posted little and just read).

I know that some of us should learn to let others speak more, but some of us are just more talkative that's all.

Others see that as taking too much room, and they could be right on that, but sometimes they also need to learn to get off their high chair (not saying this as an insult, just saying it as the expression is meant to be read).

It's really funny because some of these people are some of the most active users back in the day (used to post very frequently) and now stopped because their crowd and they are getting less attention.

Ultimately, spam has to do with quantity and substance. The issue of taking up too much post space doesn't make what you say bad or unrelated to a topic, but it does make the posts less desireable since the others want to have a place to be heard too. I think in that sense the quantity argument can also apply to people who make great posts but post much too often compared to the others.

Does that make sense?

While were' on the topic, I think mega quote-trees should be a bannable offense and new users should be taught not to post them. Nothing worse than half a page taken up by humonguous quote-trees.

Then we have the Members who come in and point out grammer, things that they do not think is relevant, that they do not agree with you and that is it, etc. You are spamming, and you are just going into that thread finding a reason to post. Do not get it twisted! That is disrupting the thread just as much as anything else. You are not the person who post, you do not know why they post what they did or why their grammar was off. If you want to give them a history or english lesson they have a wall, or much more tactfully a message board. Use it! This is more for some of the rude/grumpy members who think they can come in and treat people however they want without that person telling them to rot in Hell and to get the fuck out of the thread.

People who correct others for things that are unrelated to OP should burn in hell or, gtfo of the thread.

Grammar natzis, we have a few of those here sadly.

And other such correction of little details that don't even matter.

I'd have to strongly disagree.

Scenario: You're in a mall crowded with people. Someone falls over and isn't breathing. Person yells out "Does anyone know CPR here?" Do you respond "No, but if I did, I'd be saving that guys life" or do you let someone who knows CPR help them without saying anything?

I know that's an extreme example, but it is somewhat similar. Essentially, it's unnecessary and wasting their time.

No, that's no where near a good example. It's too extreme.

I think that irks most people. That's why I usually don't post in my threads as the discussion is for the people not me.

Yes, as I clearly stated it was but the last sentance gets my point across.
