I can see that happening.

Note that, because it hasn't yet been officially announced (although it has been unofficially confirmed), retailers haven't yet opened it up for preorders, so there's no way to see preorder interest for the Wii U version. EDIT: Before someone ignorant comes in and calls me names, or anything... I'll point out that I didn't say the Wii U version would sell better. This is hilarious. I wish it were true, to be honest, but I highly doubt it.
I feel like CoD is saturating it's own market, and not every owner feels the need to upgrade to the newest game (hence why multiple CoD games are in the top played games on xbl every week).
That also means that there are more CoD players than any of the CoD games have sold, which is insane... Really popular franchise.

I think you very brave, and I understand your reasoning, but I think the X360 version will out sell the PS3.
It just sells so much more, more than even Halo or Black Ops for the PS3.
I will predict that during those weeks FPS gamers will be getting very little sleep.

Just like they were always interested in Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero?
It's going to decline eventually, wouldn't be surprised if it's BO2 that starts it (will still sell a fuckton), which is sad because it's the first COD in a while to step away from the established formula and try something new.
I think it'll be much closer, but if the WiiU launches that week as well, that could make one of the bigger impacts.
I kinda agree with you that Halo 4 will hurt CoD sales this time more than the last one, not only because the launches are closer but also because this time it is a "real" Halo, not a spin-off. And yes, this may be the first CoD that doesn't outsell the one before it.
As for the PS3 version selling better than the Xbox one... I'm not so sure.

I'm sorry but the biggest selling point of CoD is its multiplayer. Do you really believe that people that have spent hours on the Xbox/PS3 multiplayer, that knows/recognizes a lot of nicks and have learned who to avoid and who to go with, are waiting for the WiiU version (from which we know almost nothing about its online) to be announced?
I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you.
Please excuse my bad English.
Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
Hahaha no.
Halo itself is almost just as milked as call of duty at this point. MS has also turned the franchise into a yearly release in the name of blockbuster gaming.
Pre-orders mean nothing, bo2 will outsell halo easy on 360 and the ps3 version will still be less sold.

I don't think the launch of the Wii U will have ANY effect on CoDs sales. They are targeting completely different markets imo.
@OP, pre-orders mean next to nothing, and at this stage (months from launch) they are nearly useless in predicting sales totals for the game.

My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

Well, people who may normally buy COD may get a WiiU instead. It may only be a few thousand, but it's enough (maybe)
