If someone has console A and B and doesn't like the offering of console C then even if a franchise they like goes to console C they don't have to buy it.

Do what I did...buy it for the Wii and play it on my friends Wii that collected dust! If you're a gamer you should have at least one friend with a Wii.

I will buy the 3DS when it gets an own Zelda game. Altough I am not much of a portable gamer

Still you gotta admit this is kind of dick move on capcoms part. I know a bunch of ppl that solely bought a psp and a vita (for the future prospect) for monster hunter. Why in the holy hell are they making it exclusive to the 3ds only? That should piss more ppl off! Now ppl have to go out and buy another system just to play one game! You know ppl have lives besides video gamers, bills, children, wives, lets not try and make these ppl sound like they arent real gamers cause they dont want to buy 4000 different consoles just to play their favorite game series. It is effed up that its not coming to vita cause it started on psp, there are loads of ppl who bought a vita for monster hunter, and the handheld is really hurting now. Seriously capcom could have single handedly saved the vita, what a bunch of douches for not making it multiplat.

It doesn't always work like that though. The Wii is a console that some trad gamers leave to dust, but it's an exception in that. Also, it's end gen. OP is talking about games that can arrive early gen. For me, I wanted Uncharted. I only learned lately that it was a game I truly wanted (before that I just thought it looked awesome). Not much time later I found a 2nd hand PS3 to play it on. Now I can actually enjoy PS3 games too. The same can be said about any console, you're not going to find 1 single console that offers nothing you would want, I don't buy that. It's usually that the person is not looking hard enough. Even the 360, which I'm not a fan of, has a few games I would really like to play.

As for 3DS, with the remodel, people will be selling their old 3DS'. It would be the perfect time to buy a 2nd hand 3DS with MH4 for people who like MH but not Nintendo.

In this situation, I think Monster Hunter fans should just buy a 3DS instead of a Vita. Monster Hunter 4 was announced for the 3DS before the Vita released, so it's not like fans bought a Vita and then found out that a 3rd party exclusive switched platforms.

A lot of Japanese franchises are migrating from Sony to Nintendo. Nintendo handhelds just sell much better then Sony ones, and Nintendo has a good history with Capcom and Square Enix. If someone were a hard core Monster Hunter fan, they shopuld just switch to Nintendo from Sony.

However, as to the question at hand, for my situation. If there was a great franchise or developer which used to make exclusives for one platform, but later switched platforms, then I would buy the currently supported platform if the game is good enough. However I just might not get the game new.

For example, Jeanne D'Arc and Valkyria Chronicles 2 are two excellent PSP games which I really want to play. So what I did was borrow a friends PSP for a long enough to to let me beat these games. I recently I bought a PSP 3000 used, so I can play other great PSP games and come back to these.

So next gen, I will likely get a Microsoft home console well after I get a PS4 and Wii U, there is no reason why I wouldn't get old launch titles for $20 or less each.

Im sorry but the Wii is collecting dust on the casual end as well (where I live). The games that are still living on the Wii are mostly Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Ive been to many friends house who have the Wii and the Wii's were eventually either traded for a couple games or being ignored unless forthe purpose of playing Super Smash. I have tons of friends with Wii's but when I want a Wii game I just borrow my friends Wii who refuses to game. He's trying to gradually bow out of gaming, but says he bought only a Nintendo Wii to cure the gaming itch because if he got a PS3 or 360 the complexities would set in and he'd become hooked on wasting time with it.

I know, it's end of gen. It's normal most people are getting tired with it (I'm talking casuals). I never said the contrary. :]

Dont see things slowing down on the other consoles nor the PC. In fact PC is making itself more relevant than ever with Steam. As for your first post I dont buy consoles I can find at least five games for. The Wii had like a couple more than that but I played the games on my friends Wii before I even cared to start counting to five again. The list now stands at two in Xenoblade and The Last Story.

That's because the Wii is ending its generation now and the PS3 and 360 aren't ending their generations until two or three years from now.

You're all over the place. hehe :] I was talking about the casuals leaving due to end of gen. For trads, I already said Wii is an exception. In other words I don't disagree with you. (had to bold it jic).  But in most other cases, the person would have to buy a used system (case of the 3DS imho).

About Wii. I don't even own one, I play on my roommate's. I'm waiting for the WiiU to capitalize.
