Well the people who bought psp's for MH should be happy as Capcom has released several MH games for the PSP.

Why would people buy a Vita expecting MH to appear on the system though? Capcom announced MH3G and MH4 for the 3DS in September 2011. That's 3 months before the Vita even launched in Japan, plenty of time for a MH fan to make a purchasing decision.

Why would people be expecting MH to appear on Vita, since Capcom has been mum about it? Unless Capcom says something then you shouldn't assume that it's coming out.

To be fair that's not supposed to be Capcom's job, as a third party company they don't care if a console they didn't make is failing, they won't take the risk if a game fails, because even if it is a Monster Hunter game there might be the small possibility that the game doesn't make the expectations of people. Making the Vita sales is Sony's job, either making a game of their own or invest in another one.

The game as a whole would not fail if it is multiplat.   Even if the PSVITA version of the game does not sell great, the 3DS version of the game will.  Every PSVITA game sale means profit even if they are not so great.  It is really weird to see that a greedy company as Capcom to deny themselves more money.

Capcom think they could earn more cash via exclusivity, but that is only truth in the short term, because in a long term perspective they wont get as much money if the title was multiplatform.

I bet, considering the above, that at most it is a timed exclusive.

Maybe I didn't make it clear but I am referring specifically to the people that literally start hating the game just because it is on a "inferior" platform. And if you don't have the money or you're not a big fan of the series then those are valid excuses, but if it just for simple hate then yes they are stupid imo.

Releasing MH4 on the PSV isn't as simple as just "moving" it onto the platform. If it doesn't sell well on the PSV, then it actually means money LOST because it isn't the cheapest thing in the world to make multiplatform games. It's possible but they're playing it safe because it doesn't all spell out profit for them.
There's also a possibility that Nintendo paid to make it a 3DS exclusive but we don't know anything for sure yet. I'm merely making assumptions right now (not all assumptions are bad as they are necessary sometimes).

Another train of logic that is less console centric and more game-centric goes as follows:

Not my fav console = Console I not own.

My fav game not on Console I own. Must have fav game... must have console I not own. Console I not own not my fav console. Must buy not my fav console. Sucks... but need fav game. Will buy.

In other words, useful thread not pointless because useful thread bring new logic.

I considered pulling an elaborate troll on the Sony fans here, but since the subject is Monster Hunter, a series that stubbornly refuses to adapt to any platform it's on, I say MH and Vita deserve each other.

Wait, that still could be interpreted as an elaborate troll. I have nothing against the Vita, for the record. I'm very happy that the two new handhelds have just about every type of gamer covered. Something that past handheld generations have struggled to do.

only that's not the point of this thread... that's what Nintendo fans what this thread to be about but that's not the point, the point is WHY!! gamers don't buy a game becasue it's on another platform with the key being WHY!! encase your wondering why it's bolded and underlined.

and the answer is becasue on crappy hardware that said game from that said franchise would add nothing significance to the experience worth getting that said crappy hardware for. If your a monster hunter fan you don't need to get a 3ds becasue this game isn't going to add anything significant to the experience thus making having gone out brought said crappy hardware a complete waste of time and more importantly money

actually if you read the OP, its kind of the point of the thread. Its certain people that were trying to turn it into something else with talks of specs and what not. THE 3DS game is a sequel which WILL add to the experience. 3DS is more powerful than PSP, so how could it not?? We're not talking about some port here. So if your a MH fan you do need to get the crappy hardware to play the NEXT iteration of the series. Or you could miss out on it.

True fan equal person who need game.

Game not cost kidney, but expensive. If too expensive, can't buy. Not buy = okay if too expensive.
