1998 was the first time I cried playing a video game. It was because of Aeris Death :(

Let me first say this with bias: Every single moment Odin steps out is fucking awesome every part of my body gets an erection (Well, except FFXIII).
-FFVI with Kefka, 'nuff said.
-[EDIT:]FFVIII - The moment Squall caught Rinoa from imprisonment (How could I have forgotten to add this?)
-FFIX's Alexander vs Bahamut was pretty epic; I even liked it when Kuja lost it upon realizing his purpose and mortality
-The Flower Girl's death is something that will always be embedded in everyone's mind.
But, really:

I'm not sure, it's one of these:
Leaving Midgar in Final Fantasy VII and seeing the plains for the first time.
The Lunar core and Giant of Babil in FFIV.
The last level in FFIX.
The last level in FFVIII.
Temple of the ancients FFVII.
Going underground for the first time in FFIV.
The city of Esthar in FFVIII.
Aeris' death (also made me cry and left me felt missing something)
The wind castle in FFI.

I did play the game, you crabby little man.

I have a few of those from FFVI. The Opera Scene was epic and certainly not something I expected in a SNES game. Then you have Celes suicide attempt, Locke's wife and Cyan's letters.

I totally agree. I understood that scene as an intentional awkward scene, forced laughter and such, for relief of the overall depressing tone of FFX. This scene is memorable for the wrong reasons these days --colored as a failed or accidental awkward gaming moment when that was in fact the direction they wanted from the start. It wasn't bad acting as I read other people say on other forums and youtube comments, it was great acting. And if you paid the slightest attention to that scene, you notice Tidus and Yuna let out a real laughter after they realize how intentionally corny they were being.

Even though it's an online game, it's definitely fighting the end-game bosses on Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV. I've only done the Avatar fights (summons for Summoner) on FFXI, and I've only got to do the Ifrit Primal fight on FFXIV, and I haven't done Garuda yet. I've heard that she's a bitch to fight, though. Here's what to expect with Ifrit:
And here's Garuda:
Of course on FFXIV, if you defeat Ifrit and Garuda in the Hard battles, you get weapons.
Ifrit weapons:
Garuda weapons:
And let's not forget you can fight...MOOGLES!
Moogle weapons:
I'm showing you this because us, as players, can carve our own destiny in these games and experience these memorial fights. Plus get rewarded with weapons. And unlike in FFXI, which you get to summon Ifrit and Garuda, you are unable to in FFXIV yet (and it will be different summons as the Primals can only be summoned once in the new Version 2.0 game).

You will crap your pants once you see Odin in FFXIV. There is already a teaser of what he looks like in a CGI scene: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/48205 On FFXI, Odin is also responsible for all of the misdeeds the gods have done in the game; he's the source of all the evil and he is the one pulling all the strings. Oh, and you do get to summon him once every 2 hours with the Summoner job
EDIT: And that's IF you defeat him. There is now going to be a battling quest in which you have to face him as a Lv99 job on the game and it's going to be in Hard mode or something. I read it awhile back.

- Kefka poisoning the river.
- Kefka kills Leo, captures the Espers and destroys the village.
- Kefka destroys the world.
He is so badass.
