Forums - Gaming Discussion - Skyrim's new Expansion pack is literally groundbreaking

now it all makes sense!

PS3 has to wait, because they want to iron out the bugs BEFORE they realease it this time

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Of course it's still enjoyable and since you know what it's like playing Fallout or The Elder Scrolls games you won't have much problems with some of the bugs.
I think after getting all updates in the 360 version and reading the walkarounds I could finish all but 1 of the bugged side quests.

Cool.

Now everybody has their opinion, but how would you rate New Vegas compared to Fallout 3? (if you try to ignore the bugs)

Not as good because Fallout 3 is my favourite game this gen, but still better than the majority of the games.

Factions are a nice touch; upgradable weapons are cool, though that feature could use even more customization options; companions are very useful because there is no level scaling for monsters and your companions deal out much more damage than you are (i didn't use any companion in Skyrim for example. Mostly because I forgot about them, but also because I didn't need one.); the map has more diverse locations this time around.

The downside is that New Vegas (the city) isn't that spectacular and that you need to pass many loading screens when going through it. The end of the main quest isn't that great either. Also the graphics are really outdated and the biggest downside for me is that the atmosphere is almost completely gone.
It's more like a Western (movie) with some weird creatures and Fallout gameplay, oh and robots.

One bug that is really getting on my nerves: A certain follower severely gimps your Vampire Lord's Drain Life spell when that person is accompanied with you. Vampire Lord is pretty over powered but that feeling of glory drops as soon as the follower decides to tag along. It literally makes VL useless. Bethesda, fix your crap

First things first that isn't a bug, because it is working as intended. Your follower should be level appropriate to you and your enemies. Secondly you should really be thankful that for you the Vampire Lord is in any way a step up from your regular character. My experience is entirely different my follower was more of a burden, and my Lord form was painfully weak compared against the creatures the game balance spawned against me. Let me explain it would take my follower minutes to dispatch enemies I could kill in seconds, and on more then one occasion I had to back track half a dungeon to finish a fight for her so I could procede through to the next area. My Lord form on the other hand had the exact same problem in that in that form it would take minutes to finish fights that I could finish in my main form in less then five seconds. Which made using it a real big waste of time. I suppose what I am saying is be thankful you are getting something out of both of them, and nothing at all which is what some of us seem to be getting.

Dammit! It's the Fallout 3 atmosphere I wanted! I recently found out that it's exactly the atmosphere in Fallout 3 I loved so much (it's awesome in many other ways too of course).

Hard to put a finger on what was so special, but it just was (atmosphere in games to me is very important). Sometimes I felt slightly depressed by it, and had actually many different emotions going inside me, but the total sum of it all was fantastic. In the period I was playing F3, but not actually playing the game at a given moment, the atmosphere was in my head and I missed it and wanted to go and play it.

really would love to play skyrim(hopefully pc version as im gettin a new gaming laptop soon) but i logged 200+ hours into fall out 3 on xbox 360 to one day see my game couldnt play no more at all due to some weird ass bug...i was highely pissed ...maybe it might be better if i wait for the game of the year edition like i did with fall out 3

First impressions from domestic media seems to suggest a rather stale experience overall. Swing and a miss, Bethesda? Oh, and the bugs persist, nothing new here.

If they have yet to fix the regular version of skyrim why release the DLC? With each patch the game comes closer to being fixed, but how long must we wait...

I've played the first few quests and haven't run into anything yet. It appears to be an improvement over previous Bethesda releases.
