I don't get why it was "successfully ported" and then canned after that though...wth

lol this is what I was going to say. if its already ported hasnt the money been spent.

And if it is a port WTF is it doing on 720/ps4? What did they port it exactly form to begin with? sega mega drive?

Good. No port is better than a dumb downed port imo. Just make us another Boom Blox and we'll be happy.

The only way this would make sense is if they decided the sacifices made to the Wii U version compromised the quality they wanted from the game.

uuh no. it is EA lol. that is not a reason they would cancel a game. Look at their Wii efforts. jsut spat shit out left right center. so I am sure one bad port wouldn't make a difference to them.

I genuinely think EA has a soul. All of the branded franchises, sports releases and fitness games are obviously going to be released across all platforms, but I don't remember them bringing any of thier ambitious titles to the wii?

^Depends on the franchise Colbretti. Some are treated more delicately than others.

no, but those efforts where shit to begin with anyway, which they admitted recently.

What I woudl like to know is what they are porting the game from? PC? if so perhaps WiiU can't handle it.

Has the 720/PS4 version been made? and if so woudn't that indicate close to final specs of the systems are already known by developers already?

If the game is capable of running only on PC/720/PS4, what kind of price are we expecting for these consoles? because if they are significantly more powerful than WiiU to prevent the port being it's full potential, are we going to see $500 price tags if WiiU rumors of $299-$350 are true?

finally ported would indicate a complete game coming out on PC soon. Does it mean 360 and PS4 will have the game later than PC? or the console coming quicker than we expecting.

If this rumor is true then this is very bad news, not only for Nintendo but also for all gamers alike.

For Nintendo becauses it shows that 3rd parties won't/can't change, and if they have to sacrifice a platform, it will be Nintendo's one.

For all gamers because, if even before the next gen starts we start with news about development costs being too high for a Co. like EA, it means that we can start forgetting about originality, or new IPs. They will go with what works now.

It looks like some things never change.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

The rumour just doesn't make sense. If they had the code ported to Wii U already, they wouldn't just can the project, they'd put it on hold. Given that it's likely to be a year or two before the successors to the PS3 and 360 are launched, and it's going to be on those platforms, why would they cancel Wii U development now, at least a year before the game is even likely to be launched? And why only cancel the Wii U version, if their problem is lack of money? If they're lacking money, it would make more sense to take what they've already got for Wii U, polish it up and tweak it, and release it early on the Wii U, thereby establishing some actual source of money.

So yeah, the rumour just doesn't make sense, and I wouldn't be surprised if the guy that told the rumour to NeoGAF misunderstood what he had been told. I'd say that it's more likely that one of three things has happened:

1. Only the Wii U version wasn't cancelled, and he misheard what he was told.
2. He was told that a Wii U game intended for release multiplatform on next-gen consoles was cancelled, and he misinterpreted it as only the Wii U version being cancelled.
3. He was told that they had stopped development (most likely temporarily) of the Wii U version, and he mistook that for it being cancelled.

I guess we'll probably end up hearing from EA about it, soon enough, whatever the real situation is. Assuming, of course, that his source was a valid one to begin with.

That rumor sort of makes no sense.
