Forums - Gaming - RUMOR - EA cancels Wii U version of next-gen Sony/Microsoft title

They are right to be worried. Launch games do not all sell great over time. It is better for them to wait for more consoles to be purchased.

You do know that, when the game launches, there is the strong possibility that there will be more WiiUs than PS4s/nextbox because it will launch almsot 1 year before the other 2, right? Why cancel the vesion for the console with more users then?

I don't get why it was "successfully ported" and then canned after that though...wth

It means they got it to run, barely but it wasn't worth the effort since 3rd party tites have a history of not sellling on Nintendo consoles.

The only way this would make sense is if they decided the sacifices made to the Wii U version, comprimised the quality they wanted from the game.

uuh no. it is EA lol. that is not a reason they would cancel a game. Look at their Wii efforts. jsut spat shit out left right center. so I am sure one bad port wouldn't make a difference to them.

I genuinely think EA has a soul. All of the branded franchises, sports releases and fitness games are obviously going to be released across all platforms, but I don't remember them bringing any of thier ambitious titles to the wii?

no, but those efforts where shit to begin with anyway, which they admitted recently.

What I woudl like to know is what they are porting the game from? PC? if so perhaps WiiU can't handle it.

Has the 720/PS4 version been made? and if so woudn't that indicate close to final specs of the systems are already known by developers already?

If the game is capable of running only on PC/720/PS4, what kind of price are we expecting for these consoles? because if they are significantly more powerful than WiiU to prevent the port being it's full potential, are we going to see $500 price tags if WiiU rumors of $299-$350 are true?

finally ported would indicate a complete game coming out on PC soon. Does it mean 360 and PS4 will have the game later than PC? or the console coming quicker than we expecting.

in terms of the ps4/720 prices, you have to remmember that 50$ of the Wii U's cost comes from it control. Unless the ps4/720 mimic controls with with screens on them then that $50 will instead be going towards the systems power. Nintendo also refuses to sell their console at a loss at lauch, Miscorsoft and SOny will probably be willing. As the ps4/720 have a year bedore they launch, whatever high components they are using will be fairly cheaper by time of their launch.

By ported I'm sure they simply mean running on.

it is not just that though. surely a port means game is pretty much done. why wait year and a half for the new 720/ps4 (perhaps longer for ps4 if sony claims they waiting for significant jump). Why shelve the game for over a year?

If they release it at launch, it will geenrate them revenue, even if it is to fund only future 720/ps4 projects.

If true, then Nintendo dodged a bullet, they should be happy for all the EA games they can avoid!

A rumour of a cancellation of an unannounced title coming on consoles that are not yet available?!

I like the game's back story....well keep and eye for the rumored unveil.

if thats what porting means then yer ok would make sense in your scenario. I guess they could of got a demo running to see. but i would have used better words. But I guess the anonymous source could have misunderstood and used his wording (i.e port)

I heard the reason was that the Wii U couldn't handle the logo screen.
Really sucks though. I wanted to play this game, that I know nothing about and that may or may not exist, so badly.

Problem is that, from the looks of it, they just started the development of the project for all platforms, but someone took a look at how much would it cost to make the game, they decided that it was too much so they decided to cancel the version for WiiU.

The game itself is pretty much in its infancy and won't be released in a year or two.
