did anyone noticed besides me that Trine 2's graphics aren't as impressive or detailed as Trine 1 was on the PSN version?
why was that? was it because the Xbox360 couldn't handle the 1st's graphics so they downscaled the 2nd to fit both consoles?

I fail to see this supposed graphical regression in Trine 2. Can you point it out?

I think people are attributing differences between them to graphical strength rather than difference in the design like people did with Arkham City on the Wii U. Trine 2 is way more detailed than Trine 1 and has beter lighting and shadow effects as well as better water effects and detail.
Your preference for the first Trine's design is noted, but better graphics?

No. Just no.
Another "slightly better" one year old game in a new console...HURRAAAAYYY NEXT GEN FTW!!

non of which address the only complaint i had of trine 2 ... shitty, boring gameplay.

What did they do?

Trine was a platformer with action/puzzle elements.
Trine 2 is an action/puzzle game with platform elements.
so, for instance, in the first game the theif could grabble onto any wooden surface in the game and when no surface was present the theif could grapple onto the wizards floating platform. it was fun as hell to "web sling" through the game and use your special abilities to access platforms and hidden areas that had collectables that leveled you up to get even better special abilities...
the wizards floating platform: gone completely.
wooden surfaces to grapple to: gone almost completely (expcet in select puzzle solving requirements).
item collection to level up special abilities: gone.
special abilities: many gone, remaining were nerfed
mana: gone (which i guess just goes along with the nerfing of your specials)
...basically they nerfed all of the elements of the gameplay they had in Trine in order to ensure certian puzzles had to be solved in the way they wanted you to solve the puzzle or to ensure they could add combat sequences you couldn't escape from.
...and then there are bad level design choices. in trine you could - if you wanted to - play though the entire game only making use of 1 of the 3 availble characters. no obstical was unsurpassable even if some were more efficient to with specific characters. in trine2 some parts were flat out impossble to pass with out a certain character. which means if you killed one of the three characters sometimes you'd have to back track to the previous check point to rez the appropriate character in order to progress.
seriously. everything about the game was a fucking mess. nintendo fans, i know i'm probably not your favorite poster but i'm being completly genuine here: don't waste your money on this PoS.

what i meant was that it wasn't as sharp or clear as the first one.
but the atmosphere is still incredible and even has more varity as you somehow pointed out.

Now this is what I hate about modern game design. That the developer wants to direct everything and take away control from the player.
But it's still a bit awkward, the missing features you listed. Why? Maybe they got lazy and by removing features it got easier to design levels that would work out like they wanted, instead of having to design real clever levels when the player has so many tools to solve them.

and that thread is so full of fail.
The videos of WiiU and other versions prove its a superior version graphically and hopefully control/gameplay as well.
