News | June 8, 2012 - The central processing unit (CPU) of the U Wii is as powerful as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but the graphics processing unit (GPU) is one and a half times as strong. That is what an employee of Ubisoft stated to Insidegamer.

Ubisoft provided this information from a gameplay demo of Assassin's Creed 3. The editor of Insidegamer noting however that the game is on Wii U currently less good looking than the other consoles, with less detail and less constant framerate.

This can still be solved; because the Wii U is a new console, developers are still getting used to develop for the device. According to Ubisoft Assassin's Creed for Wii U will, at the time of release, be of the same quality as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

I don't have as much athority to claim something as a developer has, but this doesn't seem right compared with the Wii U's processor. It's a well-known fact that the Cell is a more powerful processor than the Xbox 360's Tri-core, so that's already a little iffy on the developer. Second, this is a much newer design than either, so I can't see why it can't be more efficient than the processor in both consoles. If anything, people have been saying that the processor in the Wii U is the one component that is supposedly a solid step up from the other consoles.

Looks like I will only be enjoying WiiU games 1.5x as much, as I grind my teeth over the missed opportunity for this number to be 100, 1,000, or even a million times bigger.

powerpc core at 3.2 ghz *3, same in both 360 and wiiU
gpu runs at ~750 mhz, 1.5 times the power
on paper the statement is true for someone that doesn't understand technology, why do you think nintendo doesn't release specs
