About retail price, i'll take your word for it.
"After the Vita iteration of Uncharted, it's clear it isn't really a system seller."
This sentence seems flawed on so many levels.
1.) Uncharted is a series made for consoles & on big screen. Of course it's going to have a drastically smaller affect when made for portables. This is espescially odd coming from you as you've made it quite clear that you believe games can be blockbusters on consoles, but not necessarily on handhelds.
2.) The Vita iteration of Uncharted wasn't developed by Naughty Dog and subsequently didn't get anywhere near the praise that the Naughty Dog games get. So, it's silly to compare Golden Abyss & Uncharted 4 since they will have drastically different levls of quality, and thus, sales and systems moved.
Even with these two huge disadvantages, it's still likely that Uncharted: Golden Abyss was a large factor in a large percentage of Vita owners.
"And, I doubt they'll be able to turn it around in time, unless they've been working on it before the UC3 release, or even if the console releases in late 2014."
As I just said, Naughty Dog is split into two teams. One for The Last of Us and one for Uncharted. The Uncharted team just released Uncharted 3 in 2011. So, if it takes them 2-3 years to make Uncharted 4, which is the amount of time they need, then they will release it in 2013 / 2014. That means Uncharted 4 will make the launch of the PS4. Of course, this assumes Naughty Dog-Uncharted team began development of Uncharted 4 shortly after Uncharted 3, which is likely
"A GT6 Prologue? Perhaps. But the full version won't be out for years after launch."
You didn't even try to disprove my post this time. So I'll just ignore this one since I don't think GT6 will make launch either.
"Yes, but they don't seem to be continuing this trend with the PSV"
The Vita doesn't even have many, if any, 90+ rated, accessible games for Sony to market. This likely won't be an issue with the Playstation 4 if Sony's plethora of first & second-party developers produce quality games.
" and the initial PS3 ads were pretty poor."
Yes, the initial ones were. Again, like the Vita now, the PS3 didn't have many 90+ rated, acceessible games (or more specifially, exclusives) for Sony to market. As I said about the PS4 earlier, the ps4 likely won't have this issue if Sony's plethora of first & second party developers produce quality games.
Since, you've included the word 'initial', I assume you recognize the progress Sony's marketing has made since the early days If so, I don't understand why you expect Sony to make same mistakes that they've already fixed. Mistakes don't occur in a cyclical manner. When a subject acts to fix a mistake, they usually don't stop those actions so that they make the same mistakes. Mistakes come when the subject either A.) refuses to fix current mistakes and they allow the same mistakes to keep happening, or B.) New mistakes happen. But we're talking about an old mistake. And one that Sony has already fixed.
