It's a big factor, and shows that Uncharted's brand isn't enough to move new hardware.

I can go into more, but it would take much more effort than pointing at UGA and grunting.

Okay, that's a weak reason.

1.) The Uncharted IP, like most console IPs, is meant for consoles. People aren't going to buy a portable FOR Uncharted when there is a superior version on the PS3. A big game on home consoles wouldn't necessarily be a big game on portables. I'd go out on a limb and say that even CoD will see 'low' sales. Same for Gran Turismo. People just aren't going to buy it when there's a better alternative. Really, this has been discussed a lot already. Portables don't do well with console-suited games, nor do console-suited games do well on portables.

2.) Golden Abyss simply isn't as good as Naughty Dog's games. It's metascore is 80. That's almost a C-level game. A franchise can have system-selling power, but that doesn't mean that the lower-quality titles will move consoles.

3.) The Vita simply isn't attractive. The console is currently over-priced (from a consumers perspective) AND it has little to no known games AND Sony's marketing for it has been terrible. Uncharted is the only moderately large IP on the Vita. Aside from maybe 2D Mario, no IP is so big that it can do well on an expensive consoles with a lack of games & marketing. The console has to at least have a few other incentives in games and/or price. I said Uncharted was a system-seller, not a miracle-maker.

Solid arguments.

I'm not. Solid arguments. Vita example wouldn't necessarily apply to the PS4.

But right now we have no reason to assume Uncharted is a big hardware pusher. That's just ocnjecture.

And no, a 5-million seller isn't much of a hardware mover in the scheme of things. It's the 10+ million sellers that really bust stuff up.

Ok, so they might make tourist trophy 2 for PS4 release, but that doesn't make it any more likely that GT6 will be out on launch day.

It's going to be tough. Sony needs to win back America if they want to "win" next-gen in sales. And going by the current trend in sales, the Xbox brand is only growing stronger in America. I don't think it's possible for Sony to win next-gen without having a lead in America.

I don't know if I'd use my biggest established brands (God of War, Uncharted, Gran Turismo) to push my console at launch. It would be a good strategy in the past for consoles like the Nes, Snes, and N64 but these days, I'd probably start things off with some compelling, new IP's and my "second string" franchises. Then, when I brought out updated versions of my big guns, it would almost be like a second coming.

Look at titles like Halo 3, Gears of War, Mario Galaxy, Gran Turismo, 3D Land, God of War 3, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Kart 7, etc. Hell, even last gen with titles like Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart Advance, Gran Turismo 3, and many others--you don't lead with your best move. You keep something in the tank. Just announce that your big games are coming and show off a little footage to keep the fans hyped.

Very good points, I'll add a couple of things:

5.- Sony should release the PS4 before or at the same launch window as the nextBox.

6.- Take advantage of Blu-ray and keep doing collections if posible at launch and at 1080p, examples: Uncharted, Motostorm, Resistance and Infamous(?) trilogies, Ratchet PS3 collection (5 titles), etc and sold them like at 50$ it will bring new fans to these series and its great bang for the buck.

They need to make a profit for the whole company. Otherwise they won't be able to step in the ring with an aggressive pricing.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

^Wrong.

Halo is also in decline. Having new and unproven developers won't help either. Plus its been surpassed by COD as the #1 FPS.

You also forgot LittleBigPlanet is close to 5 million sales.

Kinect, like Wii.... has lost steam already.

No sorry you are wrong, Halo is not in decline, compare Halo3 + Halo3 ODST + Halo Reach VS Halo:Combact Evolved + Halo 2

Now compare GT3 VS GT5 or GT4 vs GT5.

COD is mutiplatform it makes no sense to talk about, or If you really whant to talk about it's a point in favour of nextbox. Since, as I said, Ps4 will likely have an inferior hardware or be more expansive, Nextbox will likely be the best alternative for multiplatoform games.

For big IP I mean something that sells around 5-6 million units each iteration, LBP1 has almost reached 5million copies while LBP2 went only to 2.5m copies.

i dont get it why would the PS4 be either more expensive than the nextbox or weaker? how would you possibaly know that? because PS3 is more expensive than xbox 360? well guess what they are two different machines. there is no effidence that this is the only possible case. tell me one logical reason why? they might have around the same hardware and hoursepower and have the same price, isnt that possible? maybe the nextbox would have a kinect like camera built in, there for increasing its cost, while ps4 wouldnt but would have stronger hardware yet still the same price or even cheaper.
