Forums - Gaming - Nintendo is the only one in the room displaying leadership and innovation.

at least Nintendo is original

they don't just wait and copy like some others...and please don't post ancient stuff to claim Nintendo has copied...

for me, if Nintendo wasn't creating stuff, i would be totally bored of gaming, seriously

Do you seriously think that SmartGlass would of been introduced if Nintendo didn't go second screen with the WiiU?

The reality is WIiU caused Microsoft and Sony to also add a second screen interface to their systems.

Yes, because Smart Glass has nothing to do with Wii U and everything to do with AirPlay. I don't even know why you'd even bring up the fact that Sony lets you use a Vita to play LBP2. Merely mentioning it expends more energy than Sony spent in the concept and implementation of such a lazy idea (although one that I'm sure all 10 Vita owners will enjoy).

Do you seriously think that the great innovator Nintendo would have given their console a tablet controller if the iPad weren't setting the world on fire?

The iPad did not release until 4/2010.

Nintendo was thinking about Wii U's tablet concept in 2008. Try again.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

And I've been thinking about fucking Petra Verkaik since I was 10 years old. So what? They didn't bite on it until the iPad sold 50 bazillion units.

Sony brought good games

So did Nintendo.

Name 12

A rather arbitrary number.

Personally, I think Pikmin 3, Luigi's Mansion, New Super Mario Bros U, New Super Mario Bros 2, Paper Mario, Game and Wario, Wii Fit U, Lego City Undercover and possibly the P-100 things are games from Nintendo that I am very much interested in. In addition, I liked the look of Zombi U, Assassin's Creed III, Aliens, Scribblenauts and Rayman Legends amongst a few others such as Mass Effect 3 and Batman which I have some keeness to play. Nintendo showcased nearly all of those games at their whatnot, but I'm sure you'll quibble.

My view only, of course.

None of my posts sent up and red flags huh? Ok.

I wish I understood this post.

Im just fuckign with you

Me love you long time.

Which hit the market first, the Nintendo DS or the iPad?  You can usually get tip offs as to what Nintendo is planning on, by seeing the direction of their hardware.

What is being discussed on my end is the driver behind innovation in the videogame industry now, from a leadership standpoint, comes from Nintendo.  That is what is demonstrated.  Sony, while more than Microsoft, still plays catch up with things.  Nintendo isn't playing it safe at this point.  They don't react in their own way to what is going on in the videogame industry the way Sony and Microsoft do, with Microsoft likely the largest practicer of this.

Too bad for them. They'd be better off playing it safe than playing it stupid.

what's that supposed to mean, that they've stolen the shape of a 360 controller... well, i have no time to write a huge list with stuff copied from Nintendo, stuff much more relevant than controller shape, for god's sake

Case of Nintendo doing Blue Ocean.  They go outside their industry to get new tech and new approaches, which end up working in their domain.  This differs from what Sony and Microsoft are doing for the most part, regarding their consoles.

It didn't exactly scream next gen or innovation to me.

The usual horsepower complaint - but I expected this so no surprises.

A touch screen that's non multi-touch - had it on my DS for 7 years. Not convinced. They need to demonstrate what can be done with the games.

But the games.... Pikmin with a map screen? Nintendoland? New Super Mario Bros with...one person moving scenery? Hardly impressive. No new core IPs either, big shame.

Netflix? Twitter integration? Social gaming? All done before.

See what your friends' Miis are up to? Mii plaza or whatever it's called? Like the Xbox avatar screens and PS Home.

And it's best not to talk about the Pro controller I think.

The only pitch of their new system that really got me excited as being something innovative was how they tried to present the controller as being the new hub of your entertainment, rather than being tied to the single television that may or may not be in use.

That dream almost died with the battery life and in some cases frame drops. It seems completely antithetical to pitch something that requires a greater deal of processing power than normal as the central aspect of your new console, when you are the hardware manufacturer with the strategy of releasing lower-than-average powered hardware.
