Sony brought good games

So did Nintendo.

A rather arbitrary number.

Personally, I think Pikmin 3, Luigi's Mansion, New Super Mario Bros U, New Super Mario Bros 2, Paper Mario, Game and Wario, Wii Fit U, Lego City Undercover and possibly the P-100 things are games from Nintendo that I am very much interested in. In addition, I liked the look of Zombi U, Assassin's Creed III, Aliens, Scribblenauts and Rayman Legends amongst a few others such as Mass Effect 3 and Batman which I have some keeness to play. Nintendo showcased nearly all of those games at their whatnot, but I'm sure you'll quibble.

My view only, of course.

Yes.

Innovation is not always useful or meaningful.

and I certainly didn't see leadership, but a manufacturer desperately trying to make up for the colossal ground it has lost to the competition.

And yes, they completely lack decisive sofware atm.

You should look at the hands-on on Kotaku which is delighted by the very scope mechanism mocked in this post. They really loved the whole thing! I think it's very exciting personally.

Sit and wait approach. See what the other guys do then make it better. Samsunghas been doing this for years.

Except when doing this costs you too much marketshare because no one moves, and an entire industry faces issues regarding growth.  In the areas of games and entertainment, it is key you do new things, or it gets dull.  You see even now, the yelling about FPS stuff being dominant, and how it is BORING.  All you get is more and more FPS stuff.  What is lacking is an interface that enables stuff like RTS and others.  So far RTS has not made a jump to consoles, because of interface issues.  They just don't hold up.

Reward for jumping early is that you get a lion share of market before anyone else, and when in the leadership position, you dictate to your competitors what is going on, and they have to play catch up.

It is all red ocean thinking here, outside of Nintendo.

Seriously? "Hey kids, do you want to play with an iPad while sitting on a Wii Fit board while your friends waggle around with Wiimotes and your Xbox loving older bro plays along with a controller that will make him feel right at home?" That doesn't sound like red ocean thinking to you? The Wii was about making gaming simpler and more accessible. The Wii U's philosophy is just "more cowbell".

Do you seriously think that SmartGlass would of been introduced if Nintendo didn't go second screen with the WiiU?

The reality is WIiU caused Microsoft and Sony to also add a second screen interface to their systems.

Any new IPs from Nintendo?

... SiNG?

Asides from Pikmin 3, I see no reason to buy a wii U. If I want to play a zombie game, I'll use my ps360. :/

(Toss me a few JRPGs in HD and I'll bite.)

Yes, because Smart Glass has nothing to do with Wii U and everything to do with AirPlay. I don't even know why you'd even bring up the fact that Sony lets you use a Vita to play LBP2. Merely mentioning it expends more energy than Sony spent in the concept and implementation of such a lazy idea (although one that I'm sure all 10 Vita owners will enjoy).

Do you seriously think that the great innovator Nintendo would have given their console a tablet controller if the iPad weren't setting the world on fire?
