The good thing about nintendo games is that you can observe some of the rarest species present in the japanese charts ecosystem: the positive percentage. Truly magnificent beasts.

07./10. [3DS] Super Mario Land 3D (Nintendo) - 10,018 / 1,605,114 (+2%)
10./14. [3DS] Mario Kart 7 (Nintendo) - 7,771 / 1,728,338 (+2%)

FF VII remake would be very good for the 3ds, but don't act like it's the holy grail. Games like MH4, the new 2d mario game and the new pokemon game will sell much more than a FF VII remake ever will.

3ds = Over 2 times the rest combined

3DS = over 13 times the Vita sales.

It's already over in Japan for the Vita, it really is.

Hard to say until TGS. Look at DS to PSP sales during last gen.

Sony are also really lucky that handhelds don't count.

Besides which I was talking about Japan.... the DS in Japan started much better than the PSP and continued that... I think you are thinking of PSP v DS in the west.

Nah. Im talking Japan. PSP was dominated by the DS there, yet the PSP still found an audience and still got big games.

My point is, wait until we see what games are out in the future. Wait for TGS. DS had Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, it had Pokemon and Mario... Yet the PSP still found that audience thats even keeping it popular today.

Is Vita gonna win? No. Is there still a chance for success? Of course.

DQ spin-off 500K!?? There must be some mistake...Anyway SquareEnix just achieved 13% of their forecasted sales this fiscal year in Japan. DQX will do most of the rest, so I guess SE has no other major game for Japan this year :( My squareenix budget will be 0 this year...

Well you are forgetting something there.. Psp had MH and DS didnt.... Now, 3DS has MH (MH4 will be exclusive supposedly). MH helped the psp a LOT

Not only that, the first major (that is not that major) AAA third party game DS had was Final Fantasy III Remake, released almost 2 years after the system got released.

3DS had major third party games way earlier in its lifetime. The market has much more confidence in it than it originally had with the DS. The opposite holds true for Vita/PSP.

Damn, 3DS has Japan in the bag. It only needs the FFVII remake, and it will be over.... assuming at least 1 pokemon n 1 monster hunter game (MH4) will see a release.

I dont want to jump into conclusion, but I think Nintendo has won Japan in handheld terms this gen.

I don't think so. Square Enix don't want people jumping off bridges if this comes to 3DS. Bad PR.

Hey im just saying... MH jumped to Nintendo, and DQ also did it, why FF wouldnt it??? Just imagine in TGS, FFVII remake exclusive for the 3DS :P that would just bury the psvita in Japan.

In a few years, after the 3DS market gets saturated with software, and the smaller companies cannot find room, they will develop games for the Vita. Same thing happened for the PSP; there was simply no competition, but with Monster Hunter blowing up, PSP hardware sales were still viable enough to continue software development.

The Vita is not dead....Just in  a coma for maybe... 18 more months? Afterwards it will keep on trucking.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Monster Hunter got popular when it was on the PSP. PSP got so popular because of MH. Both MH and the PSP owe their success to eachother.

We have no idea if theres a MH game on the way for Vita. Same can be said of DQ or FF. Same can be said of any other big franchise.

The odds are REALLY stacked against it, but its not "dead" just yet.
