What's keeping you from doing that now?

Dude, let the man get some shut-eye. He said he'll give it to ya tomorrow.
@dgc1808. I your avatar set the mood that made me laugh. 2 since when do devs have to openly mention a competing product due to copying. It's so absurd at this point it makes me giggle, in a non-derogatory way.

Probably when it keeps getting shoved in their face:
1) Every video they've put up gets a bunch of comments about it in minutes.
2) The game had it's debut on Gametrailers and it was such a positive thing at the time. Then the same dude that handled that event goes on to call it a rip-off after speaking so postive about it before.
3) When was the last time you saw a thread or article about the game that didn't have a bunch of comments bringing the rip-off comment?
For them to just ignore those and not give a statement would be weird and just give a bad impression about the devs as just a bunch of lazy bums that can't make their own game.
I personally liked their response to this criticism. "We're not gonna force ourselves to make the game as different as possible because that may not actually be what's best for the game. Fact is, there's a lot of things that SSB does right that would be stupid to change but simply leads to the two games looking generally similar, but that's not a bad thing. There will of course be a lot of significant differences in PS All Stars that will give it it's own identity". Something to that effect.
Honestly, it's a 4 way 2d fighting game. How much different could you expect it to be from SSB, Jump Ultimate Stars, etc. Shit, I guess Jak and Daxter was just Super Mario 64 reskinned? Both had you running and jumping in a 3D environment. Both had simplistic combat with just one real attack button. Fact is, somethings just work best within a genre. I remember someone complained about the HUD in PSAllStars being too similar to Brawl siting that even the colors for each player almost match. Well fuck.... I guess the dev should make them all Orange so that it's more difficult to find your character when things get hectic. It makes it different and more hardcore right? No. Primary colors and one secondary. They stand out clearly. That's just one of the smart design choices in this type of game that simply shouldn't be changed.
Anyway, i'm starting to ramble. There's a bunch of Previews out there that say the game significantly different and does have it's own unique feel from Smash. VGC just put up a preview that also states this. For those that think the game will just be a blatant reskinning; you should read a few of those.
