Forums - Nintendo - Will the Wii U controller be for hardcore gamers?

If being an harcore gamer means remaining stuck to a 1996 controller design for 20+ years and be proud of it than no, the WiiU controller is not meant for hardcore gamers.

Some of you need to look at yourselves before claiming some utterly ridiculous bullshit.

Firstly, this is not my article, DieAppleDie.

Secondly, is every single post by jumpin a rage post?

Lol, I think so.

Also, isn't DAD (LOL!) a NewComer? How can something be classic to him already...?

Yes.

So if hardcore gamers dont have Nintendo consoles are you admiting that the Wii and the Wii U are for casual gamers?

Anyway, I am just curious to see what are Sony and Microsoft going to come up with if the Wii U is a smashing success. You know, Kinect and Move are proofs that Nintendo was right. So... if Nintendo is succesful with this new controller are we going to have Xbox 720 and PS4 controllers with touchscreens? And will these be better because they are not Nintendo's?

The point is, i wasnt a member but i was able to read you because you/i dont have to be a member to access the threads.
Also you posted this article Nintendo related when you obviously are not a Nintendo fan, user, follower..etc
When i read Pezus and Nintendo article/disscusion in a thread, well, my average intelligence tells me that your purpose is trolling, and i dont like it since im a Nintendo fan(boy?)

I couldnt have said it better myself. Why are some video gamers so opposed to evolving?

Imagine if they refused to try dual analogs when they first came out.

and I tell you what. I HATED dual analogs after playing golden eye for 100s of hours on N64.

but guess what, I stuck with it got use to it and realised just how awesome dual analogs are (assuming you have coordination).

on to the topic, these people who are complaining are forgetting that the Wii U can also support the Wii Remote (menaing classic controller). I am sure game developers could also use these if they wanted to stay in their comfort zone. I jsut wish Nintnedo released a classic controller pro that does not hook up the arse of the Wii Remote and runs independantly.

"...a little bit outdated?"
You didnt put much effort there...xD
leave it, we are ruining this great thread...

On topic
The Upad looks great, i dont have any complain about its design, theyve said its light and comfrtable, i still have to try it by myself though, but basically is a standard controller with a screenn and a stereo attached.

Is it odd that I find nothing wrong with it even though I'm a Nintendo Fan? No, it's not odd. Maybe you could read our posts but you obviously haven't read too far into to Pezus. He's not known for bashing other companies, and if he does, it's out of joking.

Btw, I've made at least 2 Sony Threads, and I'm not even a Fan of them!

Better than being "stuck" in 1985 by being forced to hold the Wiimote sideways with it's clunky design and tiny D-pad and buttons just to be able to play classic 2D platformers properly.

Or how about still being "stuck" in the late 70's/early 80's when it comes to PC gamers and their gaming setup that they're still ranting and raving about to this day?  How come nobody every complains about PC gamers being proud for sticking with a control scheme that's more than 30 years old, but when it comes to console gamers we're not allowed to be proud of a certain controller configuration that, while more than a decade old now in its modern iteration (20 years if you go all the way back to the SNES pad), just so happens to work best for us?

Face it... aside from games specifically designed around the motion controls like Wii Sports, the Wii remote was a step back for traditional games.  The only traditional series that I felt was improved when playing with a Wiimote + nunchuk setup was Metroid Prime 3.  All the other traditional games like Galaxy and Mario Kart were all better off with a dual-analog setup.

Mouse and keyboard have aged well, dual analogue has not.

And the Wii remote when used properly improved almost every kind of game. Anything involving aiming became faster and more intuitive, interaction with the game world could be made more physical and and immersive. (Mario Galaxy would be inferior with dual analoue btw)
