Forums - Nintendo - Will the Wii U controller be for hardcore gamers?

What a useless piece of work.

"The specs list is so vast that this could even be classed as a games console more than a game controller."

Yeah, right...

With actual analogue sticks (rather than circle pads) there will be no difference between this controller and any other apart from the distance between your hands (as if that would be hard to get used to). And on top of that, they will probably release a standard controller (or keep releasing CCP) so that +2 multiplayer on FPS titles is even possible.

They've had the CCP on the Wii since MH3, and it's available to use in a lot of hardcore blockbuster titles. Hardcore gamers still didn't touch it.

The controller is fine. The only people disaggreeing are the sony fans that are jealous because sony didn't think of this first.

Well it's basically a controller, just with a screen in the middle and some gadgets.

Yes: Because it's basically a controller.

No: Because I'll be looking at my TV anyway, when am I going to want to look down towards the controller? O.o

Should do fine for RPG's, RTS's etc though. :)

I think the main point of it is supposed to be an extention of the game. Where the touchscreen could be the menu, it could be used to move objects(Like in the Rayman: Legends Trailer), or to see different views of a game. (Like seeing behind you on MK or seeing th map while playing MK.) I don't think it could be used for much more than that.

Actually they did, the idea of streaming content from a console device to another machine, was done with the PSP years ago. and the Vita does it now (with a few games) The only thing Ninty is doing is taking that concept and putting it in a "tablet" and addng a bunch more functionality. Hell i could probably find a device that did this prior to PSP, Do some research

*Researches*

There are a lot of possibilities with the controller, some games will use it in a lot of unique ways (most likely only Nintendo games) and it will be better for some genres than others, FPS won't probably use the controller in any way other than a map or inventory, but imagine the possibilities for puzzle games. Also the Wii U could be the first home console that brings a real MMO.

As for how comfortable the controller will be, well Nintendo isn't stupid (for the most part), they won't make something that hurts your hands after long periods of time, and for what I heard the controller is really light, so that shouldn't be a problem.

The problem is that "hardcore gamers" will just bash the system no matter what, most of them are just blinded by their own fanboyism for the other consoles, and it doesn't matter if the system turns out to be a really powerful and awesome machine, those "gamers" will still make stupid excuses as for why the system sucks...

Nintendo and PC gamer

@oniyide: okay oniyide, I will do my research sir. I guess according to all you rabid sony fans, sony is the ones who comes up with all the innovative ideas (not nintendo) so let me see... Hmmmm,,, so sony came up with the move long before the wiimote right? Now we are to believe that sony came up with this idea of streaming content from a tv screen to a controller first. Hmmm, you sony fanboys never cease to amaze me.

1. Because not that many hardcore gamers (PS360 crowd, not Nintendo fanboys) play the Wii

2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wii_games_that_use_the_Classic_Controller

Taken off of that list

1. 2 COD Games, (and Black Ops 2 if it comes out on Wii)

2. Conduit 2

3. GoldenEye 007

4. The Last Story

5. Madden 12

6. NBA Jam

7. Super Smash Bros. Brawl

OK, ok Conduit 2 isn't a neccarily a "blockbuster"game, but the point is, a lot of more traditional "gamer" games use the CCP.

3. The CCP came out with MH3, so 3 years on August 1.
