Forums - Sony Discussion - Sorcerys Meta doesnt look good

Tagged games:

Where was this anti-meta crowd when Uncharted 2 was released? We had a new thread every time it gained or dropped a point. We even had threads when people thought it might gain or drop a point. And threads when people hoped it would gain a point. And these weren't 360 or Wii fans either...

On topic: And with this, all hopes of me buying a Move are gone

you still buy games based on metac.?
piece of advice... you shouldn't...

If I am not sure wheter to buy a game or not. I download the demo if available, if not I rent it and watch the IGN and Gamespot reviews. And then I decide. I did with plenty of games (Uncharted Drakes Fortune, The Witcher 2, Max Payne 3 etc.) always worked for me.

But just out of curiosity why not?

in the OP, you say you wont buy move and this game because of the metac. score...

now you don't use metac. and research about the games you are interested... make up you mind...

if i was wrong, was caused by your OP...

interesting factoid: As I write this, Sorcery is actually rated HIGHER than the Avengers.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

-raises hand-

I stood alone against the metadrones !!

As I sunk into the uncharted abyss of thee unholy threads , as i proceeded to preach thyne souls of the lost metadrones about thee overrated game and the curse of the unholy beast that was hiding behind the name of meta critic, cursing and plaguing the minds of Thyne gamers, but I was struck down by thee holy hammer of thyne moderators multiple times, but I will never give up on my holy crusade, even if I end up dying for your sins!!!... And moderators can suck it ! Because they can't accept an opinion for shit... seriously....

(I wonder if this post is going to ban me for that last line, but mods excuse is that im banned for trying to promote religion :D )

I always felt like this was Move's last chance at a future if you will. I don't see much of one unfortunately. Move has just continually failed to capture the sales, interest, and imagination of the public the way both Wii and Kinect has. I think the problem is that this has never really felt like a must have product in any fashion. With the Wii, it was the entire system, all games used the Wiimote and nunchuck, while the kinect made dancing games and virtual fitness software look way more cool and accurate than any other game peripheral before it. The move never came across as something mandatory for the PS3 and out of all the devices, it certainly looked the lamest with a giant ball on top and thick handle to grasp. I'm thinking that Sony will drop Move altogether nexgen if interest doesn't pick up in any way. Sony really should try and push non-gaming uses for the move the way MS is doing right now with kinect.

But in thi case I cant rent the game nor download the demo because I have no PS Move, so look up the Metascore. If the score is high I buy it, if not then not.

It seems like, from the reviews over on IGN, GameTrailers and TheSixthAxis, that the game is pretty good, but it lacks any kind of replay value. Theres just the singleplayer mode, with no way to replay levels, only the whole game.. And no New Game Plus, or anything else.

That seems to drag it down. There are some other remarks, but they seem to be positive about what's actually there. It's just that they deem it too little.

pretty much this, that seems to be the general feeling among other reviews. too.I have the game and so far I feel like i got my 30 something bucks worth of it, but then again im nowhere near the end. This is the type of game ive been wanting to play on my Wiifor years. To be fair it isnt entirely linear, ther are hidden chests to find and potions to mix, but that probably isnt enough.  As much as I enjoy the game, i really cant recommend it to anyone who doesnt have a Move already. THe cost of the camera and controller is more than the actual game, unless you can both for cheap.  THen again I kind of feel that way for Kinect and Motion+, just glad im using my Move for more than just KZ3 and HOD and the occasional HR

I actually have it pre-ordered ( should be arriving any day now). The meta scores have been disappointing but I will reserve judgement until I have played it.

in your case... i would choose one review that i trust and read the text, it says more than the number in the end (and loads more than the metac score). if i did realize, this is a game i would like and enjoy playing, i would search for other games that i would also enjoy playing with move... if those together were worth the investment and if i could afford it. i would do it. if any of these conditions did not come as true. no buy for me. one game is not worth the investment. 2,3 or 4 might be. i would recommend Resident Evil 5 gold edition, cheap and better to play with move instead of DS3, Sports Champions if you don't have a wii. inFamous 2 has a very cool control method with move... will not say its better than DS3 but its very well made. Killzone, MAG, Soccom and Resistance 3 have similar control methods that are cool to use.

there are rail shooters, sports games and others but i can't comment on those. EDIT: also lots of small and cheap games on PSN that might be worth having in your game collection...

IMO there are many reasons to invest but i understand others might not see it... if you didn't bought one yet, you might be one of those persons. Sorcery, even if it was a +90 metac with lots of perfect scores wouldn't be alone worth the investment IMO.
