Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo E3 2012 Conference - E3 is Dead. Long Live Nintendo Direct!

probably there cant be surprises because non of 1st party games arent finished or looking nearly finished to be shown. so we must wait...and it would aslo be stupid to show those games because no one would buy a Wii U if they know that zelda is coming 6 months after launch...think about it they show us now zelda,metroid..not even a hard die fan would buy it if it isnt at the launch they would wait.

im not telling that there gonna have a super launch without those games but better one then showing them and not releasing them...hope you get it my english is bull..

My favourite part of E3 was NSAF! I mean seriously, what does that tell you?

Two things:

1) NSAF is Awesome and should star in his own game!

2) That the real winner of E3 this year were Nintendo related memes:

  • Non-Specific Action Figure
  • Together Wii U
  • OctoG123
  • Purple Orange Shirt
  • Zombie Reggie: "Frreeench Fooood"
  • Wii U Birth
  • Core Wipe
  • Mr. Pikmin
  • Zombie Iwata
  • Iwata's gone Bananas
  • Rivalry between Reggie and Moffet
  • Riccitiello trolls Nintendo like no one before! (E3 2011 - walks on stage, promises unprecidented support... E3 2012 - ME3 port and that's it!)
  • Riving Room to Riving Room!
  • Purple Pikmin

  • Wait! Let me tell you some more about Nintendoland!!  ( )

LOOOL!!! :D
The MiiVerse jacknife kick was the best :D Oh, and prometheus trailers was pretty hilarious.

I don't think Nintendo needs E3 to be a platform for announcements any more. They have other, cheaper channels to use for announcements. They used this E3 to sell the products they have coming in the next few months. Which is more cost efficient.
Have the show floor full of titles that are already announced and are coming to keep them in the market mind, and use Nintendo direct and their own press days and hands on events to show off the stuff that is coming afterwards.

The fact that they withheld announcements of stuff that is in localization but probably will be a holiday (for 3DS - read Fire Emblem) or 2013 title should be proof enough of this.

That 3DS conference just reaffirmed my desire to purchase several of the titles on show. Shame there was nothing new but oh well.

At least they spent more than 5 minutes of E3 talking about it.

VGChartz

Well that seamed to be the theme of Nintendo E3 here are the titles that are coming out remember them and how you want to buy them.

Miyamoto on Zelda Wii U

Speaking about the Zelda tech demo shown at last year’s E3 and the future of the series in glorious HD, Miyamoto said:

“Obviously we stared that experiment last year and used that to sort of showcase some of the HD visuals. And obviously when you look at that, you do get a positive reaction to how simply having the HD visuals in a Zelda game can really make the game look wonderful and give it sort of a high-quality feel.

“But one thing that’s interesting is we’re seeing how the way that tastes are broadening in video games and you have some people who prefer more casual experiences, and you have some people who prefer sort of those more in-depth experiences. Obviously, as a company that’s been making games for a very long time, we tend to be more on the deeper, longer game side of things.

“But really what we continue to ask ourselves as we have over the years is, “What is the most important element of Zelda if we were to try to make a Zelda game that a lot of people can play?” So we have a number of different experiments going on, and [when] we decide that we’ve found the right one of those to really help bring Zelda to a very big audience, then we’ll be happy to announce it.”

Asked whether the game is in R&D stage then, Miyamoto replied:

“Yeah. With the last game, Skyward Sword, that was a game where you had motion control to use your weapons and a lot of different items, and I thought that was a lot of fun, but there were some people who weren’t able to do that or didn’t like it as much and stopped playing partway through it. So we’re in the phase where we’re looking back at what’s worked very well and what has been missing and how can we evolve it further.”
