Every month charts for retail are showing us less and less of the real picture. Just look at the UK Music industry where 90% of sales are now from download, its obviosuly not that high for games, but i bet its higher than anyone realises. |
Sure... Let's compare music downloads, which are only few MB with the option to buy only a single song and not the whole CD with videogames downloads, that in case of Diablo III are 8-9GB of data. Not to mention that the CD will be ripped anyway to store the songs in the computer music library to be exchanged with other devices. They are two totally different worlds.
Also i am not sure how it works, I know that Steam doesn't give away the sales numbers. What about Blizzard? Are they public? Are they included in the VGCharz numbers? Still it doesn't make any difference. Diablo III has been hyped for 12 years. I learned that Max Paine 3 was coming out last week just a couple of weeks in advance. Not that I'm buying it anyway. I have many more games that I need to finish than time available.. :(
