Yes diablo 3 outsold Max Payne 3 with digital sales, but it is still pretty amazing that max payne 3 outsold diablo 3 in retail. Yes, yes, plenty of people bought the digital copy, but plenty bought the physical copy as well. Blizzard allowed you to predownload the game even if you bought the physical copy, and you just had to type your cd key once you got the actual game and plenty of people enjoy attending midnight releases for very hyped games. Regardless of what we may predict digital sales are, it is unarguably very impressive how well max payne did week 1, at least in the UK. Heck it even beat Mass Effect 3, but I suspect thats mostly because of how bad mass effect 3 sales were on the ps3.
