but yeah, back on topic for the poor guy. I think Sony can turn things around to be competitive, if not pull ahead of Microsoft. It's not going to ever hit Wii levels though.

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

No, there are more, but those are merely to point out why the PS3 is not the PS2, lets not forget the causal games are on the Wii not the PS3, also I meant PS2 was not the most powerful when all three were out, I mistyped, lol

As, for now, according GH3 sales, you can see, that PS3 base have least casuals for today, BUT that will change in 2008.

I'm a big playstation fan too, but be realistic. any sane person knows the ps3 isn't going to fall into obscurity but at the same time, the idea that the ps3 is going to dominate the other consoles is simply wrong. tone it down and maybe you'll get banned less.
Just look at my PS3 sales predictions for 2007.

For japan - realistic.
For usa - realistic.
For europe - optimistic.
1 from 3 it`s like 33%. =) So, it`s not madness, i`s just PS3 domination.

Seriously, how did this topic turn into "defense of the Wii".
Not once was the Wii mentioned in my first post, but all these fanboys decided to bound in here and turn this sony topic into a nintendo topic.

i guess you can make a valid argument that the Wii can be related to this article, but i was trying to compare the similarities of this article to the ps3.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

I don't get the point of this. If anything it just proves that the PS3 isn't the PS2 and is failing where the PS2 managed to prevail.

You should come to expect that a topic pointing out similarities between the accusations of this generation and the accusations of the previous generation are going to draw out defensive replies from all camps. Especially this early in the generation, when the future is about as unassured as you could possibly imagine. A simple pointing out of similarities is more than enough to cause a topic to degrade into a battle between the Sony and Nintendo camps at the moment.

In short, if you don't want your topics to turn into a Sony vs. Nintendo debate, don't post articles that encourage it. No matter how well-intentioned your post may be, somebody's gonna turn it into a debate. It's pretty much the rule of VG Chartz discussions.

Of`course. there some difference, like:
1) PS3 cost more.
2) PS3 came later and already had 2 competitors.
3) PS3 got better hardware in terms for developing exclusive games, but that we will se only in 2008, though Uncharted, Ratchet and GT5P are nice examples.

All other thing mentioned in article are 1:1 PS2:PS3. =]

You may have posted the article and expressed your own opinion about it, but it's perfectly fair for people to express their own opinions about the same article.

 Nope, not at $350-450 they aren't causal enough, not when compared to Wii fit, and mario party, etc. which are much less with the Wii
