Ok then, we need a plan to restore VGC to its former glory.
We must attract news member and encourage friends to join the site, and everyone needs to be a lot more dramatic.

I saw the "Was the Wii a fad" thread and if felt just like old times. Then, I tried to post and the site froze up on me......just like old times.
My first memories of this site are Leo-j and Soriku constantly fighting over whether Kingdom Hearts 3 was going to PS3 or Wii.
Man this thread is bring me back. I haven't been the most active user but I've pretty much visited this site almost everyday for 5.5 years (been a member for 4.5).
Wow I never realized how long VGC has been in my life. Over half a decade.
EDIT: Also I'm pretty sure I saw Johnlucas around here like...a month ago.
Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League
A brief trip down memory lane:
LBP will be huge!
I blame Wii Fit!
"Whats the first game you played that made you shit yourself?" <-- This was an actual thread title
ioi-->Brett-->ioi
ioi 2 best selling game of all time.
Every game was considered a flop.
"Are you a virgin?" <-- possibly greatest thread ever
"Taylor Swift: she's the female Beatles" <--- I can't believe I actually miss this
FFXIII for 360 announcement broke the site and the rest of the internet.
GTAIV will kill the Wii.
Kirby 007 (Let's sing Bohemian Rhapsody)
What happened to BengaBenga?
That dude who did a bunch of drugs, had sex with his cousin, and convinced d21lewis that he was a girl.
Kudos to those who get all of these references.

It was awesome. We had fanboys who were batshit crazy and constantly made batshit crazy predictions (think Gilgamesh on steroids), we had ioi getting drunk and banning people who disagreed with him about F1 and we actually had interesting threads about games.
These days I only stick around to debate the libertarians.

I get them all.
And Rath pretty much hit the nail on the head, we had batshit crazy members that were fun to mess with as a collective, but they never caused any harm, they didn't start flaming usually if you called them on it, it never derailed the thread, so it was all good.
Biggest things were the deeper thoughts on development, business, and sales (demographics and such). We had a lot of threads on these topics, usually doing it to death, but once a new spike in sales happened we had new reason to dive deeper into why... then late 2008 hit and the site got very popular and with popularity you get members that didn't jive with these types of discussions, if you called them on their wild assumptions it turned into flame wars and thread derailment, and then only the most basic of insights were discussed about the gaming industry... so yeah the VGC of old was better community wise, though I think VGC did what it needed to do to get bigger, just QC should have happened.

good times back in 2006-7. So many trolls, and characters. Like Blue3 (or was it blu3?) and that guy with the green alien avatar that was a ps3 nut. Then there was john lucas with his crazy predictions, and leoj being like 13 and saying stupid stuff. Then there was soriku i think it was who was also like 13 and they argued like morons all the time.
There was so much confusion over shipped vs sold, every thread about sales would be derailed by shipped vs sold without fail.
vgchartz used to only be monthly sales, it was a big deal when it went to weekly to set itself apart from NPD. The tracking was much worse back then, but it has gotten better and better over time.
What was the other crappy tracking site called? Nextgen something? So many arguments about which was better even though that other site was garbage.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

nexgenwars. Was complete garbage and just ran on a linear algorithm. I think it might still be running?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
