Forums - Nintendo - Iwata can’t promise “overwhelmingly rich” Wii U launch titles, proposals for evergreen titles

I personally don't remember the DS having any worthwhile games in year 1 myself.

Then again this is a new home console, and the competition is stronger. If they want to grab some of the red ocean market, they need to make the best of their year 1. I realize it won't be oeverwhelming, but the key titles will be there imho.

what Nintendo really needs is a big western studio, either in Europe or the US/Canada, preferably both!
If they had a studio in the Americas and another in Europe, each capable of one yearly release, that alone would be enough to be a game-changer.

Nintendo has a studio in the Americas, Retro Studios.

Nintendo bringing out the damage control already!

Well can you imagine the opposite?

I can see it now, Iwata appearing in front of investors, a Wii Zapper in each hand making "pew pew" actions at his audience as he declares "Hold on to yer hats fellas, we have so many games for Wii U launch that they're literally comin' out my ass".

If you over-hype you generally fall flat on your face as no reality can possibly live up to the expectation. It's always better to play down the hype.

Retro is not really significant enough; in 15 years the combined sale of their games is about 10 million. They need someone like Rare, who could drop several games a year which would each sell 4-10 million.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Rare was awesome.

That is the most awesome E3 moment of all time. I hope someday we'll see another reaction like that for something.

Im confident wiiu will be a powerhouse.
It will be the third console that i buy day 1.

Don't worry Iwata. Just give me Eternal Darkness 2 by Retro Studios and I will be happy for a while.

Under promise and over deliver.

All independent accounts have pointed to a strong launch lineup. Maybe Nintendo just has higher standards.
