They've been doing that WiiBox3. They have Monolith, Project Sora, Retro has hired ex-Naughty Dog staff, and there's more I'm not familiar with that others can say.

They have been hiring, have been expanding. I'm just not sure of the details.

you're forgetting that development budgets for HD games are larger (meaning man power).  a few hires here and there probably doesn't mean more games just the need for more people to say even with prior productivity.  when nintendo was raking in billion dollar yearly profits they should have been investing that in studio expansions.

They are... They're building a giant new headquarters in Kyoto that will allow them to further expand in-house development teams, and they purchased Monolift Soft in 2007.  Plus, as has been pointed out by other already, they are doing a lot of franchise sequels with third-party contractors like Next Level and Monster Games.

Under promise and over deliver.

All independent accounts have pointed to a strong launch lineup. Maybe Nintendo just has higher standards.

100% spot-on.

If Nintendo were to come out and say before E3 that they're going to make "lots of fantastic announcements, GET EXCITED", then they might create a situation where people expect more than is possible for one company to deliver.  By not creating any prior expectation, people can't help but be impressed and excited when E3 begins.

Remember back before E3 2008 when they said "we'll be announcing a number of core titles at E3 this year", and all we got was Animal Crossing?  That must never occur again.

Prof, and for those interested, stock has been going down the last month.

a) buildings don't make games.

b) when opening the new facitilities the old ones are to be closed.  this is more about consolidation the hardware/software guys to be together then expansion.

a) Buildings with more people yield either 1) More games, or 2) bigger games, assumind the people are managed properly.

b) How can you be so sure? It all depends on the facility. I could see you being right for the new headquarters, but even that isn't certain. In other cases, there's moving to new buildings or expanding to new locations. You can't say for certain which it'll be.

nintendo states that the new building will improve hardware and software development by housing all employes under one roof instead of having them split between their kyoto research center R&D facility in the higashiyama ward and the main office in the minami ward improving employee communicaiton.    if all of your employees are under one roof that the old facilities at to be closed no?
