No. It isn't an opinion. I was using that as a metaphor, I don't think Sony has ever flat out said that they're the best.

Yeah but you said they think they are the best. And using what you said about opinions, they cannot be wrong for thinking that. Because it's their opinion.

^Whether they are the best or not as an opinion doesn't matter. Assuming they were the best, even then, they have no right to troll their competition.

Correct, but without any quantification it's an opinion, not a fact.

Opinion- "I think we're the best!"

Fact- "We're the best, because we've won the championship!"

A fact is a fact if there's proof behind it. Sony go around acting like their opinion is fact, and they know it. And they don't even try to quantify it. Instead, they belittle the competition and act like they know everything (*cough* Kevin Butler *cough*). That's what irks me.

Interesting.

I don't think I've witnessed Sony touting their opinion as fact any more than the other Big Two. What evidence do you have to support your claim other than just Kevin Butler's existence?

When has Sony trolled the competition?

Nintendo-
Like-Greatest game franchises of all time, reliable hardware, try to cater for all gamers (hardcore, casuals, children etc) AAA games galore, innovation
Dislike-very hit and miss 3rd party support, when they release a new console they drop all support of the existing one, no Wave race for the Wii
Microsoft-
Like- superb online facilities, Halo and gears of war are two of the great modern gaming franchises.
Dislike- unreliable hardware, not as many exclusives as the competition, ugly looking chunky consoles
Sony-
Like- PS3 is a superb console nuff said, lots of multimedia features included in the package (DVD,Blu-ray,free online, music etc) , a few decent exclusives
Dislike- Arrogant shit of a company (got well and truly knocked off their perch by Nintendo) ,Complacent ,the army of arrogant trolling Sony fanboys who do nothing but bash everybody else. (ps that is a minority i know, but boy is that minority bloody annoying)

@Jay520 Please don't. You know they have. Every company has once in their time and Sony has been doing more than anyone else this generation. I'm not saying they're the only ones, but they have been the most active/recent.

Nintendo:

+ Has more first-party games that appeal to me than anyone else.
+ Local multiplayer.
+ The "hardcore gaming industry" absolutely cannot stand them, and that alone is more than enough to win my affection.
- Messed up priorities.
- Many of their longtime developers are conceited and stuck up their own asshole.
- The bloodthirsty swarm that is their fanbase.

Sony:

+ First-party games that aren't sim racers, first-person shooters, linear "cinematic experiences" or glorified level editors with scarcely any professional content of their own.
- First-party games that are those things.

Microsoft:

+ Halo, I guess.
+ Some nice stuff on the Marketplace.
- Integration of PC games in the console market.
- First-party games besides Halo. Or lack thereof.

If I knew they have, then I would not be asking for evidence.

Now, I ask of you, present the evidence to back up your claims. Otherwise, I shall think of them as being untrue.

I will contribute later, but first let me get this straight. Everyone says Sony has been name calling and knocking on competition. Can you provide examples or direct me to them? I understand there was some arrogance coming into PS3, but after Kaz replaced Ken hasn't that changed? Is Sony just being haunted by a few bad moments because my experience hasnt been consistent to what others seem to believe. It's also hard for me to grasp considering how one can weigh consumer opinion. To me it seems there is an unequal hate towards Sony as opposed towards Nintendo and Microsoft, especially from Microsoft fans. Everyone has thier unruly fans, but in comparing Facebook conversation it seems Microsoft fans troll PlayStation fans 10 to 1. I haven't seen much competition hate from nintendo fans till I started frequenting this sight. This is limited to my perception, so when considering things listed in this thread perhaps we should take our own perceptions into account as they might not necessarily be accurate.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
