IMO its.

II > III > V > I > IV    (Remakes not a factor)

Gen 3 was like 2002-2006

I was in Middle/High School then and my parents were no longer giving me money to buy games.

So with what money I could earn I focused more on my GC games than my GBA games. ;p

I agree, gen II were the best games.

Gen I had the best pokemon though, can't beat the original 151.

Really, that's your order of preference?

For me it's I = II > V > III > IV

Diamond/Pearl were the worst, but I thought Ruby/Saphire also marked a lowpoint in the franchise. Black/White to me marked a rebound in quality, but nothing will match the quality of the first 2 and the uniqueness of those two generations of Pokemon.

Why did they get lazy? and why didn't they introduce new types after Gen II?

My agreement was only with Gen II being the best =P

I haven't clocked V yet and I also think that III/IV were pretty weak.

Well opinions are opinions.

Seems like evryone agrees IV was the worst. Not saying gen IV was bad just the worst.

More types would complicate things.  The current system is fine as it is.

True, but I think the addition of Steel & Dark type Pokemon was a great one.

I think the lazyness of unique Pokemon is a bigger issue. I mean Dragon type legendaries? lameness of starters, and clones (Black has a 3 tier fighter, psychic?, ghost, and rock pokemon like Red, where the 3rd tier is evolved by trade)? Pokemon are less original then they used to be, and damn, too many legendaries!

I also hate how now different versions unlock different legendaries....

Most people seem to agree II was the best. Even one guy who didn't like II, put the gen II remake as his second favorite (maybe he can't stand the retro graphics?).

P.S. I love how your room always has the most recent home console. I can't remember if Red/Blue had a SNES or N64 (I recall a SNES), but since then the tv's have upgraded and so has the consoles....You Mom still aparently sleeps in the kitchen though.

I think generation 2 is pretty good. I just think that the gameplay has become more balanced and refined since then, that gen 2 had the worst story by far, and that its tied with gen 4 for the worst batch of Pokemon, if only because there are relatively few of them. Oh, and the starters were boring.

I still have a weak spot for the 8 bit graphics and chiptunes though.

Hey now Feraligator was kick ass.

The other 2 were bad I agree.

The starters for Gen II are better than those of III/IV/V.

Original starters are by far the best though.

Better in design or usefulness?
