Chances of a move on vita, im pegging at 33%

What good would it do to put a failed motion control device on a failed handheld?

Who are you quoting? I see no user named Train Wreck and I see none of his comments.

I guess nomoreingrato was right. Nobody ever reads the OP.

my bad xD

I did read the OP though. Its just that you edited his post so I got confused. anyway by "a move on vita" he didn't mean anything about Playstation Move. He meant Sony doing something to lift Vita sales.

You are forgetting a few small details: When the PS4 (assuming with these low specs) comes out, there already is the WiiU which will have cornered the low end market with tablet, probably a WiiMote++ thingie, and their first party software which is unparalleled. Basically the Wii situation all over again. At the same time the new XBox arrives which will corner the hardcore market with Kinect2 (and considerably better specs assuming the rumours). So is Sony's plan? More glowing dildos? Free internet again (thus less revenue) to attract customers which otherwise have better options in the TWO other competitors?

(And a PS4 with a 32nm cell+ (2PPU,12SPU or 3PPU/8SPU), triple ram, and a modified 6850 would be about $50 more expensive to manufacture than the current PS3s - so there is no need to spend $1000)

yes Wii U will have the low-end market. Too bad Ps4 isn't low end.
PS4 is competing directly with the Xbox 720 which should both be high-end affordable consoles. There's even rumors the PS4 is supposed to launch BEFORE the Xbox 720 which should give it a HUGE advantage. If the PS3 which launched at $600 managed to go head-to-head with the XBox 360, what makes you think sony would have a disadvantage?

where did you hear the Xbox  720 would have considerable better specs? I heard the opposite.

That's what I was about to ask.  The only 2 rumors I have read stated that the PS3 will either be getting a GPU that is a class above the NeXbox or a GPU that is the same one as the NeXbox is supposed to be getting, only redisigned/updated specifically for the PS4.  The PS4 is also supposed to have an advantage because its CPU has its own integrated graphics chip that will work in tandem with the dedicated GPU.

I do hope the rumors are true that Sony plans to launch slightly ahead of the NeXbox.  If not, I'm sure the PS4 will only be a few months behind.  Nowhere near the year head start the 360 got.

Quite ironic that someone named Train Wreck made this thread.

The the first part bolded, the Nextbox GPU will also be Specifically made for the Nextbox.

To the 2nd bolded, the new rumors also state the Nextbox will have a 2nd GPU also.

I also agree with drkohler Sony would of been much better off if they stuck with the Cell for the PS4, as the Cell is a beast of a CPU (Look how it more then made up for the shitty GFX card in the PS3), and a Cell with 2 PPU's and 12 SPU's would of been alot more powerful then the Processor Sony is going with if the rumors are true. Mix that with a 6870 GPU and 2-3GB of ram Sony would of had a monster of a system. the Rumored specs they are going with is very low end and not a big leap above the rumored Wii U specs if a leap at all like people where hoping. But i guess Sony has lost that much money with the PS3 they don't wan't to go the high end or the Mid end root with the PS4, and wants their system to make profit from day 1.

Well, he was definitely wrong about the NeXbox having "considerably better specs." The only rumors I have heard that even compares them says the PS4 will have a slight advantage, kinda like this gen.  As far as these recent specs go, I'm not sure who to believe.  One side is saying this is very low end, while the other is saying this is actually going to be quite a leap.  Still, I'm hoping these rumors prove false and Sony is still going to use something that is at least compatible with the Cell tech in the PS3 so that backwards compatibility is available.  At the very least, I hope they have PS2 BC at launch, since I'm sure the parts to do that in HW will be very cheap and the PS2 will most likely be off shelves by then.

`1.  Not exactly. It's more like a custom version of the already existing GPU.
2. Saw that too but those rumors were very vague and they stated the GPUs would work independently and would NOT be able to crossfire. Not sure we should belive this until we have more details.
3. Devs to this day are still complaing about the Cell. It is a nightmare to work with and to many devs, not worth it.
4. LMFAO! Much more poweful then the Wii U specs. You keep telling yourself its "very low end". Wii U is rumored to be using the R700 series which is the 4xxx family. PS4 is rumored to be using the 7xxx series.(7670 to be exact). Combine that with the on-board GPU of the A8-3850 APU and the Wii U doesn't come ANYWHERE as close. Devs have already said it is not as capable as PS3.

PS3 compatibility would add too much to the cost. A Cell 2.0 is definitely not happening.
PS2 could easily be emulated since the PS3s components are very PC-like. We don't need $20-$50 added to cost by including PS2 components in the PS4.

I doubt anyone would mind paying a measly $50 for full PS2 BC.  I know I wouldn't.  Now if they could emulate the PS2 to work with 99% of games without any drawbacks, then by all means, they should emulate it.  But if not, putting PS2 HW in the PS4 should cost very little by 2013.

As far as PS3 BC goes, I doubt a Cell 2.0 would add very much to the cost.  The tech is already there.  The bulk of the cost for developing it was paid during the PS3's development.  It would also make it much easier to play PSN games, as many of them will now require updates to run on this new HW.  I'm kinda doubting many will even get said update, as the developers are no longer supporting them, which would make those games now useless when you upgrade.  It would also make PS Store navigation more confusing (as well as disapointing when you find out you can't play certain games) for new users.  Most importantly, it would open up a huge catalog of games to be playable at launch, which is good if big titles aren't releasing for another few months.

Though I will admit, going by your previous post, it seems some people are downplaying these rumored specs.  Looks like its should be quite a bit better than the Wii U.
