This thread shouldn't exist. Flame war city.

I think M$ will win. They dominate the biggest market in the world. They have more money, marketing ability and know what they're doing, they'll create tonnes of worldwide buzz. . The ps4 seems like it will cost too much again and because of Sonys financial troubles they can't really afford to sell it at a loss, even if they do, it will be a small one. The price for this console will be to high, more so because of the market than anything Sony has done but still somehow hasn't picked up on that. Sony have been in trouble for years. The ps3 lost them billions and destroyed all the profits made in the ps2 era, the most successful console of all time (seriously, how did they even do that?) . They're just not the company they once were. If they haven't learnt from the ps3 and Vita, how will the ps4 be any different?

Sony flexible on PS4 cost

How many times do i have to post this!!

They're selling assets to survive. Flexible for a company in their position isn't very flexible at all. Flexible could be $50. I see the ps4 costing at least $499 minimum.

microsoft lost billions with the 360, and only just started making up as of late, so yehh.

successful in which way? units sold? money earned? software sales? number of games?

hmm, can't tell, but I'm gonna say Xbox, just cause MS seems to be pushing it to appeal to casuals, gamers, and people using it as a cable box. Plus the fact, that MS can sell it for cheaper (or with subscription plans) and has a big marketing budget. And it helps that Sony went for a powerful console, cause then its easier for MS to undercut the price.
PS4 on the other hand seems to be aiming at core gamers mainly, and the market for that is much smaller now. You could argue that the PS4 will have Move to attract casuals, but it looks too similar to the Kinect, so I'm not sure if it will attract new customers. Having said that, Kinect 2.0 may not attract casuals this time, since it would be pretty similar to the original Kinect.

Nope

http://www.neowin.net/news/report-microsofts-xbox-division-has-lost-nearly-3-billion-in-10-years

That's a resume from the last 10 years... 2003-2013... Microsft lost even more money in the first years of XBOX (2001-2003)... I guess they have to profit at least 5 billion to tie the early XBOX looses.

PS. Even with all PS3 looses the PlayStation Game Division is yet in profit... if you remove the TVs the situations is even better... Sony didn't go near bankruptcy because the PlayStation division... it's because the others products. PS3 give profit to Sony a some years already.
