Is the 3ds stronger than the Wii (based on tech specs)?

Yes 148 47.74%

No 105 33.87%

What a stupid question, dumbass. 54 17.42%

Total:307

If we are talking about graphical powers, I really think both are dated to the extent that it doesn't matter. I'd have to say the Wii has more power, but if the 3DS has more RAM as suggested the 3DS might win out on capability in the long run.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

It LOOKS a ton better than the Wii. I'm not sure spec wise though. What does it matter? The 3DS produces quality looking games even if it isn't "HD." I also heard that the 3DS can and will be (at least a little) more powerful as the Wii. In an article I read it said something about how later on Nintendo might allow developers to drop support for multi tasking in turn providing more space for graphics on a game. Also when components are cheaper they can make larger data cards.

If you mean dropping the Home button, then I'm pretty sure it will only give a slight performance boost.

Not to burst your bubble, but how the hell does the 3DS look a ton better than the Wii? Are you blinded by its glorious 3D and lightning effects?

(That was not a mocking smiley ;)

-.-

How doesn't it look better? The 3D does add texture (or something) to a game and the lighting affects are a lot better. When I was talking about multi tasking I meant how you could put a game in the background and then open up other things while it's till running.

The topic is based on tech specs and not opinion though, and technically (as you clearly can see) the Wii is more powerful.

Looks like I was right about the Home button.

3DS is to Wii what PSP was to PS3. I think this is a fair comparison.

No way; the 3DS is much closer to the Wii in graphics capability than the PSP is to the Playstation 3.

While the Wii is stronger than 3DS (particularly with geometry), the 3DS' built in vertex shader and per pixel lighting make its graphics (as seen in RE: Revelations) look incredible.

The PSP, however, isn't even as strong as 3DS, and has absolutely nothing on the PS3; the graphics don't even come close.

I think you give the Wii too much credit. It's not that much more powerful than the original Xbox. But with that said, I haven't seen a game on the Wii that has come close to Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on the original Xbox. Mario Galaxy 2 and Sonic Colors are two of the games that probably best represent the Wii's graphics, but they still don't match the shadow and shader effects seen in SC:CT. Resident Evil: Revelations matches pretty close to some of what was seen in that game (shadow effects look pretty bad, though), and is also a game at the beginning of the 3DS's life cycle. In fact, Nano Assault has the best shader effects seen on the 3DS thus far...even out-doing what was seen in the previous console generation. I fully expect to see 3DS games surpass anything that was seen on the Xbox and Wii.

I'm excited to see what Renegade Kid has in store for the 3DS. They pushed what the original DS could at 60FPS, and am hopeful that they take a similar approach to their development on the 3DS.

Wii is stronger. What helps the 3DS is the smaller screen that makes it look better than if it were on a big screen. That said, I'm happy with what the 3DS has to offer!

The answer is no.

What the 3DS does have in advantage are more modern shaders that can enable some better looking texture effects. But geometry, lighting, particle effects, texture resolution and some more factors all go to the Wii. And that's to say nothing of things like A.I and physics which easily side with Wii.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

As it was already told. the wii is more powerful than the 3ds. 3ds games seems to look better because of the smaller screen and the more advance fx of the graphic chip.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

The 3DS is around the strength of the PS2 but its games have the potential to look better then Wii games through advanced shaders. The PS2 can push more polys, and higher res textures and the wii is 2x the strength of the PS2. Just look at the tech demo for MGS 3DS. This demo demonstrates the power of the 3DS (the actual game looks no where near as good and has a poor framerate). Although the tech demo looks way better then the ps2 game, there are far fewer polygons on screen, same can be seen with mario kart which doesn't look as good as the wii counter part.

The fact that MSG3 struggles to run on the 3DS tells you its not even as powerful as the gamecube.

sure it looks better than the Wii, especially with 3D turned on

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Name one game that has better lighting than Resident Evil: Revelations. I don't believe the 3DS has much in the way of showcasing partical effects, but I also don't think you can name any Wii game that have any noticable textures that are of higher resolution. Wii specs taken from Wikipedia:

Memory:

The 3DS has 128 MB FCRAM, and from what I've read, is really fast RAM. By all accounts, the 3DS should be able to produce higher resolution textures than anything seen on the Wii.
