Based on my calculations (taking VGC numbers for missing DS and PSP data),

the PS Vita did ~215k this month.

Subtract 75k for an opening week (4 days) of 140k.

umm why?

Prerelease sales.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Prerelease sales.

Which would have been first week sales if you use common sense.

Why everything so undertracked!? What is NPDs reason for not providing numbers? I forget.

PS3 doing surprisingly well.
Xbox 360 going strong like always. Guess a price isn't needed this year. But it would help it surpass last years sales.
Wii doing horrible. I thought only casuals bought the Wii? Why did the Wii U announcement hurt it so much?

far be it for me to repeat what Seece said, but i must agree with him.

as if i had any other obvious choice considering i knew you'd say something that make not one lick of sense.

thank you.

1. I think it is NPD balancing out last month's numbers.

2. $$$

Well the prerelease would have small word of mouth effect. For better or for worse.

Nintendo is looking very very bad right now...... if sony somehow get the vita to take off.... they may lose their only momentum for the rest of this gen.... which is the 3ds, next gen, WII U vs a likely monstrosity of a PS4 and 720 will really probably hurt them.... hopefully sony stay with the PS3 for another year or two, and microsoft stays with the XBOX 360, that way they can launch more powerful than expected nexgen machines, and probably get their consoles to near the WII's Life time sales....

Power is increasingly irrelivant, when are people going to wake up to this fact?

And i think Nintendo basically issued a self-administered overdose with the Wii. They couldn't keep it up, but my god they kept it up for 3 or 4 years of explosive growth regardless.

Does anyone genuinely believe that Apple can keep their market growning indefinetily? Does anyone actually believe this after the PS2?

Good month compared to last month at least. Glad to see skyrim outsell battlefield 3 yet another month. Sadly this isn't reflected on vgchartz weekly sales.

Power is actually increasingly relevant...why do you think that every tech company is trying to increase the power of their products? Why doesn't Nintendo just release the tablet as a Wii add-on since power is so irrelevant? Why do we even need new consoles? Power is increasingly relevant.

If power is increasingly relevant, why have high powered gaming PCs become dramatically less important while everyone migrates towards extremely underpowered phones and ultrabooks?

Companies increase processing power because it takes not real thought or originality ...
