Neh... the Vita will never let you pick up girls like the Wii did...

Though the counterattack theory is interesting I don't know if it really applies...well maybe when considering Near, AR, and all the music in the Vita (which is very reminiscent of the Wii). I think Sony decided to "diversify" its handheld. They added touchscreens, six axis, AR, 3G, GPS, and fully traditional console controls. It reaches every market's gaming interest. A truly control centered device. Its a good business move because if one thing doesn't pan out well, the others can shine and hold down the fort. Even their software is geared this way, from cheap minis to AAA titles. Sony has always taken a hardcore to younger marketing approach. Develop the base of consumers among the dedicated, then appeal to kids to prolong sales and create more fans for future hardware. With the Vita they are adding in the mainstream market right smack in the middle. As for competing with the 3ds, I still worry that Nintendo made a few more mistakes than just a launch price error. Their system is already dated, one analog, 3d effect was minimal, small screen, weak graphic/performance. Though they are creating a better online system, did they really equip the 3ds with what it needed to step through the gates? Or was it a foresight failure on nintendo's part? How long do you think the 3ds will be relevant, how long will its sales last? The Wii stopped short and fast despite huge sales early on, the 3ds seems to be geared up for the same. As long as they keep selling like they are now it will do fine, but it might not have the shelf life the Wii did.

I've enjoyed it more than any other console I've ever owned except for the SNES. (And I've had a PS1,  a PS2, an Xbox, an Xbox 360, and every Nintendo console)

There you have it.  I am not a real gamer.  Actually, I am glad not to be grouped with teenagers that like to flaunt their e-penis and talk shit about things that they have never even played or tried.

Well, I'm not the typical wii gamer though. I do tend towards the more niche games on the system. My favorites are LKS and muramasa. Interestingly enough, in another strange twist with the Vita, both of these devs next games are going to be on the vita LKS 2 and dragons crown.
