The third party conspiracy does exist. Explain the constant goal-post moving, or the downright bone-headed decisions, the ludicrous "test" games, all sorts of stuff that never really happened on any other market-leading console.

Also Pachter is indirectly paid by Activision. (They are a client of Wedbrush Morgan), so of course he's going to stump for them.

We also never had a market leader that hardware was so far behind the competition. If you dont think that plays a factor in some of the games not being released on Wii, then you might want to really think about it

The DS vs. PSP situation was the same, but had a different outcome.

the difference between the power of DS and PSP isnt anywhere near as great as the difference between Wii and PS360, not even close. ANd the PSP still got pretty good support in of itself, in ALL genres.

Personally, I'd say the differences are pretty much spot on; maybe not when you compare every aspect of their respective tech side by side, but the end result.  Nintendo's hardware is a full generation behind with less resolution in both cases.

Now they might not be the games that the forum dwellers want, but I think its crazy to believe that 3rd parties were NOT putting out games on the system that simply isnt true. And what isnt true is that there is some plan to conspire against Ninty, like Capcom, EA, UBi, Sega etc gather in some Legion of Doom hideout and plot on Ninty, thats ridiculous especially considering the support DS got and even the consoles prior.

graphics dont define games, but hardware does, and thats th problem. The Wii hardware was already far outdated by the time it had released. YOu mention resources but you still need powerful hardware to run said resources. I find it mind boggling when some people say why they have no GTA4 or Skyrim on Wii. THese people obviously are just trolling, dont have a HD or PC system and understands how much more advanced those games are than anything Wii is capable or just flat out stupid.

It's not really about what forum dwellers want than what is considered a top-tier game. For example, the 3DS gets RE:R. That's top tier. Compare that to the Wii, which got Monster Hunter Tri (which is fantastic). But how much more of that happened, on the market leader's platform, not much. It's not a surprise, we really do know why, and HW is a factor, but there is so much more (and we've gone over it already you must remember).

There was not a conspiracy, but a movement of Nintendo-doubt last gen, it's incontestable. Market Leader, gets no gamez. But, having said that, there were reasons, and times have thankfully changed or at least seem to change for now.

People asking for Skyrim on Wii can't make up their minds. We're talking about top-tier effort you and I right, not necessarily next-gen requiring titles. The point is top-tier, not Skyrim.

You know what I mean.

What makes you believe that the DS was a lot closer to the PSP than the Wii was to the PS360?

I have owned, PS3, WIi, PSP and DS for years. And i can see how some games would work on a certain system but not work on others. ISpec charts does a good job of that as well

Phones aren't real gaming devices. They shouldn't be counted in game/system sales.

That's why the aren't counted on this site, as far as I know.

Thankfully.

oh yeah, Capcom was foul for that. You'll get no arguments from me on that. Skipping the Wii and giving a RE:R to 3DS instead is shady.  Another thing is that Ninty and third parties really werent working with each other when it came to WII. It has to be a two way street, whether they are market leaders or not.

I just mentioned Skyrim because it is one of the games that I have seen requested. What was a top tier game?? What game would have Wii only owners want that they would consider top tier. Because IMHO, as soon as a gen starts and the more powerful hardware comes out top tier kind of changes

im sure its the opposite or at the very least they are close

Oh, yeah don't get me wrong Skyrim is top-tier. I just, what I meant was a game that is not necessarily Skyrim but that is top-tier and makes the Wii shine. It could even be TES, but just not Skyrim that kind of thing didn't work for the Wii.

Like what I'm trying to say is a game with depth and one that was made with the big minds of a 3rd party to yield a gem of a game, graphics or advanced processing aside. A Wii gem (like MH).

Yeah that makes sense, kind of like a GTA for Wii just running on the engince from PS2 games?? Thats all well and good  but would most people consider that top tier anyway?? What i mean is that a game like that released on WIi could be good but I dont think most people would consider that top tier, not when you have the GTA4 and 5s on the other systems blowing it  away.   Would you consider MH top tier still if there were a PS360 version that was doing what the Wii version did but much more? Im not trying to be difficult but I know there are people who think like that. I mean look at CODs they are considered top tier on the HDs but not on WII??

Nintendo needs to be saved? From what?

From localization of great games? From dominating chartz in selling home console and handheld? From never doing the same thing?

Please stop posting what this guy says.

Pairing up with RIM would be a ridiculously bad idea. Not only are the demographics all wrong (pretty much the only people with Blackberry phones are business people now) but RIM is a company that is heading down a very steep slope towards oblivion.

Only if Ninty was stupid enough to model and market their nintyphone as a BlackberryDS. They should simply licence the Blackberry OS for their phone, but otherwise market nand design it as a purely Ninty device. RIM is merely the provider of the phone and app OS. It's just that they don't really want to go Android which is where Sony lives in the mobile gaming (Playstation certified) space, they can't go WP8 (well they possibly could, but they're hardly going to put MS exclusive franchises on their machines and no doubt MS would insist as part of giving them WP8 for "free"). And Hell will freeze over before Apple lets them use iOS. Simbian IS dead. As is the HP mobile OS. That leaves them with RIM's OS. It's really only Blackberry devices that are unappealing to the mass market. Having a Nintyphone gives RIM OS a phone with a huge mass market potential, while RIM can concentrate its own devices in the corporate niche.

Android for a Nintyphone is a possibility as a neutral OS, and Ninty could go head to head with Sony within that ecosystem.  But really RIM's OS is plenty good enough, with enough cred for quality, if not marketshare, and long established that it would be a fine and well performing OS on a Nintyphone.  A lot of non-gaming multiplatform App developers would put their apps on the RIM OS simply because a Nintyphone would sell very well in Japan and other Asian markets.

And the operating system is pretty much the weakest point on RIM, Ninty would be far better off developing their own OS or using Android despite it also having Sony. Of course I'm actually not a huge fan of the idea of a DSPhone anyway.

DSphone all depends on how much truth there is to the phone/tab eating the handheld console market claim. If it turns out to be a real threat then I think consoles that are also phones will be a necessary counter to phones that are  trying to be consoles.

I thought the Blackberry's OS was pretty solid, if it's a PoS then really Android is the only option. I don't see Ninty doing it's own smartphone OS. Good thing about Android being open source is that Ninty can DS-ify the crap out of it.
