Since I know Giants fans would become even more insufferable with a second Series win, since we cannot crush them in a second Bay Series, and since I currently am rooting against the Tigers...

GO CARDINALS! w0000000000t!

Yeah!

Although I am a little sad today.  Still up 3-2 though.

Damned Cardinals! I must admit that I like them about as much as I like the Yankees.....

Boooooooo.

If 1-2 on your hate list aren't Yankees/Red Sox you are doing it wrong.  (In other words, the teams that outspend everyone by a metric shit-ton every year.  Soon to be 3-4 on that list are Angels/Dodgers)

For me it's something like:

1. White Sox (mostly because I am absolutely surrounded by their fans and they constantly remind me of my Cubbie's failures and I love nothing more than to see them shut up)
2. Cardinals
3. Yankees
4. Red Sox

on the hierarchy of hate

I actually used to have a bit of a soft spot for the Red Sox as they were sort of the Cubs of the American league, and was happy for them when they won their first WS in 86 years. But after they won their second on in 07 and became a more frequent winner and spender, they started to become more like the Yankees junior. Plus I recently attended a Cubs vs Red Sox game at Wrigley and their fans were extremely annoying. Now I'm realizing more and more I wish to see them fail.

the cardinals are baseball. in evey way they are classic baseball. they have a rich history, and throughout it have done more, much more, with less.

they are the come back kids. they find ways to win games, with super subs, with reletively low payrolls every year.

whats not to like.

they are the very essense of classic baseball.

Meh.  I'm a Cubs fan so that should tell you something.  Also, their payroll isn't always that low.  It was over $110 million this year.

i did say reletively. but true their payroll is  higher than normal (nearly 20 million higher than last year.

but they are only about $10 million over the league average. and its still $100 million less than the yankees, and $25 million less than the cubs

You sure about that?  I just looked it up and the Cubs payroll was $87 million this season (a huge portion of this goes to Soriano and Zambrano who's not even on the team).  Nice try though.

Edit: And the Yankees are at $195 million so they don't have a payroll over $100 more than the Cardinals either.  You might want to check your "facts" next time.

The Yankees are in a league of their own, aren't they?  I'm glad that spending the most doesn't automatically give you a title.

Unfortunately, it does usually mean an automatic ticket to the playoffs.

Hmm, I guess the Cardinals are not invincible as I thought. Still, they have several good young players and I fear they could be a force for awhile. Perhaps in 3 or 4 years, my Cubs can compete with them for the NLC central crown on a regular basis :/

Seems we have great pitching (Giants) vs great hitting (Tigers) in the WS. I'd usually go with pitching in this case but the Tigers hitting is just scary good. Plus they've got a bonafide ace in Verlander. I'm going with the Tigers in 6.

Well, fuck.

They are not that different in the runs scored department.

Regular Season (Runs Scored)
Tigers - 726
Giants - 718

I would say the Giants have the better balanced offense, since the Tigers are sort of a two-man show in Cabrera-Fielder.

Tigers pitching has been better in the post season.  Particularly the starters.  Regular season the Giants were better.

Regular Season (Runs Allowed)
Tigers - 670
Giants - 649

I think the Tigers will win.  They have their starters set up in order, rested, and they have been great in the playoffs.  The Giants could see Verlander 3 times if necessary.
