Forums - Microsoft - Size Five Games: XBLIG is a failure, won’t survive to the next Xbox

He is right, but MS is not the one to blame.

Indie games on consoles will go the way of the Dodo. I have yet to find a indie-game that is worth more than $1.

"I Made a game with Zombies" is fun for half an hour and that is by far the best indie game on the service. There are soooo many outstanding XBLA games for 5 - 10 USD and a lot of (older) games for under 10 USD., which used to be 59 USD.

Right now, you can buy, Bioshock 2, Enslaved or Dead Rising for under 10 USD on amazon.

I think there are a few indies that made it to the top (Team meat, Twisted Pixel etc.) but the vast majority is just a pain to play.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Don't make bad games then nooby. Or go make iOS games.

HAHAHA

I keel laughing at this losers that talk crap agains Microsoft.

Like Xbox 2 was doomed because Xbox 1 was a failure. like when Ps3 came out Xbox would be lost forever and so on.

Never learn, that guy will shut the fuck up once next gen rolls out and XBLA will be even bigger and better, also indies.

That guys is stupid, retarded and will eat crow soon enough.

What does the quality and sales of the Next-Box and XBLA have to do with the story? Indie Developers are right -- XBLIG is full of crap and needs to be better managed.

lol XB indie games was never meant to be a success. It was meant for aspiring developers to pump up their resume.

Saying you have a game available on the #1 HD console this generation is no small feat, a great way to get your foot in the door of the industry.

And if you get lucky and make some money, all the better. Besides, some of the most talented people get contacted by MS and their game becomes a full fledged XBLA game. It is a great way for the talent to come to MS.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

if he wants what he said perhaps he should develop for xboxlive arcade instead. I thought the indie games was meant for hobbyist, not people who intend to make games as their living.

The games on XBLIG are laughably bad, so I kinda agree with the guy. MS should have a minimum quality level to be allowed entry.

He is so full of crap. You can figure out whats good on XBLIG simply by looking at games by the user ratings or top selling.

I'll never understand why these indie developers are so bitter towards MS. At least they've given them a venue to peddle their games. Unlike Sony and Nintendo.

I'm pretty sure Sony invested on indie devs to develop games for the PSN

"Hats off to Sony. They've always supported innovation in hardware and games, and this just solidifies that claim. Sony is setting aside $20 million for the development of art and indie games, both through it's current developers as well as indie developers who can apply for funding through the "Pub Fund" they established in 2009. The money is to be spread out over three years.

Smartly, PSN marketing director Brandon Stander told AFP,  "Consumers have lots of entertainment options and we want to be the place in the gaming category for stuff that can't be found anywhere else."

The PSN has already been home to experimental games like "flOw" services like "Home" and a variety of other wacky and fun titles. It's good to see Sony isn't only interested in sequels and games based on existing IP.

Encouraging creativity is the key to longevity in the games biz."

If there was some kind of quality control then the number of Indie games on Xbox would tend to zero (I know there are some decent ones). Seriously though, you won't get rich on XBLIG, so why even bother if you want to be taken seriously or you think you're an important person.

Oh and yeah if there were some kind of achievements, even only 20G, XBLIG sales would explode. Mark my words.

He is probably just trying to drum up publicity. It doesn't take a particularly smart person to know that Steam and iOS are the two best places by far to put your indie games. This doesn't take away from what XBLIG is, however it isn't something really worth complaining about, just get on with life and do your business where it makes sense.

The truth is that 3DS and PSV game revenue may never pass iOS revenue for games. The wind is already blowing in one direction, however I assume that in the future Windows 8 may change things up completely for indie developers.

Tease.

Sony is just throwing money at developers in hopes of getting some great exclusives and to compete with LIve. MS has given smaller studios and people a market place to peddle pretty much whatever they want. Much like the market places found on smart phones.

I agree with Squilliam. It seems if you piss and moan about MS you can get a lot of attention on the internet. I don't think people care to hear from the developers that have made great money on XBLIG.
