Forums - Gaming - Who really has the most platformers?? Its not who you think.

Its not op's fault, its Gamespot's for being retarded.

Virtual Console titles included, the Wii obviously wipes the floor with platformers. Because 360 includes Live titles you're looking at the wrong comparisons.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

According to this site, the Wii has 226, and the Xbox 360 has 173.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Did you read the OP ?
Probably not as he explained that he counted only platformers and not games from other genres of that list (like Ninja Gaiden 3) and that he doesn't count old arcade ports on Live or PSN in return.
After all Super Mario Bros. 3 is not a Wii game, Conker Live and Reloaded not a 360 game (backwards compatible) and MegaMan 2 not a PC game (emulator)
Or even going as far as saying that Super Mario Galaxy is a PC game....

although these lists look a little suspicious (as other members have pointed out), I think this does highlight how good XBL is for the 360, and as Barozi said, there are some truly amazing titles that can be found on XBL (like Braid, Limbo etc.)

well, i said Wii has the most platformers in the first place, maybe i was wrong afterall, but i was having only retail games in mind

now including XBL games would be logical because they exist on the platform, on the other hand XBL is much more expanded than WiiWare, so it's normal to have more titles, and most downloadable games are 2D platformers anyway, so it's normal for such a big online service to have so many 2D platformers

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Hmmm... Well I hardly think people should care if you bought a will for platformers it is clear you should also by a 360 for platformers because the live platformers are just as fun and often $15. But if you can, buying them all is the best option. Gaining power points buy saying my console has more platformers is just stupid, just play the games. You could never play them all and if you did it would be strange.

So you're counting XBLA, but not WW or VC? Seems fair...

I did count WiiWare games, WiiWare games were on the Wii list. Im not counting VC because those are not original games for that platform, there essentially emulated games. No different than PC ones, except you pay. And I did not include PS classics or older titles on LIVE (SONIC 1,2, cd etc.)

XBLA platformers, for the most part might as well be old emulated games, only not as good with ropey over cooked physics and boredom 'a plenty.

You sir have no idea what you're talking about.
Surely that must be the reason why no one cares about titles such as: Braid, Limbo, Super Meat Boy, Splosion Man, Ms. Splosion Man, Trine 2, Outland and many more.

Beat me too it.

OT i was really surprised that LIVE had that much games, thats a huge difference. I guess when some says there is a big difference between LIVE and PSN, i know what they are talking about

Wow 200? That's a LOT!
