| Played_Out said: I have several arguments in defense of GTA: SA: First, it makes more sense to count multiple platforms for SA as all versions are direct ports, unlike SMB3 (obviously counting Mario All-Stars is ridiculous). Second, you only counted PS2 and Xbox versions of SA, not PC (or the trilogy releases). Third, and by far the most important: regardless of sales, GTA: SA claims the moral victory by being an infinitely superior game on every level. Hell, the frickin' mini-games in SA are more complex than Mario's 2D outings. |
You had me with the first two, but then the last one just made me cringe.
Moral victory? There is a shred of morality when you are shooting cops and beating up hookers?
Just because SA had more "complexity" in the game, doesn't mean it is more outright fun than SMB3. Did SA really bring something new to the table that the other two already didn't?
You had more power-ups in SMB3, the graphics were vastly improved, there was more variety in the levels, you could set your own path when playing through the levels, there were more bosses aside from Bowser, and the game had some great cheats if you knew where to look.
