Forums - General - How come the ethnic slurs for white people are pathetic?

As Spazzy_D said, "cracker" was originally about slave foremen, and was actually really a term for Blacks to use against other Blacks, because the cracker was usually a slave himself, just given rank over the other slaves, which ventures into the murky world of intra-Black racism, since supposedly there is a good deal of resentment between lighter skinned Africans and darker skinned ones, or at least there can be.

I prefer "honky." It makes me giggle.

I just found out about the intra-black racism a couple of years ago.  I'm white (well, half Cuban half Russian jew....close enough) and I was hanging out with two of my buddies from work (Lamar and Bryan) that happened to be black.  We saw the preview for Ironman, and Bryan was sooooo pissed they cast Terrance Howard as War Machine.  I had no idea what he had against Terrance Howard, but the dude HATED him.  Later I asked Lamar what the deal was, and he was like "eh, some darker skinned black guys hate lighter skinned black guys, its just something that goes way back and happens." Ofcourse, maybe he just hated Terrance Howard and Lamar was being a dick.  EIther way, it was kind of funny to me at the time.

Although some people might find this hard to believe, the reason why so few "white" people are offended by any racial slur is that race is a fairly meaningless characteristic to most "white" people ...

Maybe Caucasians should be referred to as wiggers? w=white and the rest is obvious.

That's only for the white kids who try to dress up like gangsters and act like they are black (stereotypically)

Well the only reason there are so many "racial slurs" against other races is because they take more offense to things than white people do. If black people just started ignoring the slurs then they would lose their effect and wouldn't matter anymore.

One would think they already do, unless we are going to take the flimsy argument that there is any substantial difference between "nigger" and "nigga" as gospel.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Cracker, as an ethnic slur, has nothing to do with saltines. A Cracker is a term for a slaver foremen , due to the "crack" of the whip.

Not even close. Cracker is a slur directed at corn/grit eaters in the US who love to sing "Jimmy crack corn and I don't care".

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Nigga pleaz

seeing as the "N word" is essentially the latin word for "black", maybe the latin word for white makes a good racial slur - it would be albus .. then again "albino" is already in use for a genetic defect

I wouldn't mind being called a Weißbrot, because I like Weißbrot, so I see nothing wrong with it.

Regarding slurs targeted at other ethnicities (actually, the following is a case of political correctness), It's a shame that you can't say Negerbrot and Negerkuss anymore. The former is milk chocolate with peanuts, the latter is now more commonly refered to as Schwedenbombe. Apparently that's okay, because Swedes are white. My quick research brought to light that some Germans refer to it as Bumskopf. Oh man, if you thought the Austrian village Fucking was good for a laugh, then you'll love this.

Never heard of Negerbrot or the terms Schwedenbombe/Bumskopf for Negerkuss/Mohrenkopf, but I do know Schokokuss or Schaumkuss.

Not even closer.  It refers to people white people who like to make wise cracks.  "Oh, a wise cracker, eh?"  But calling people wise made them feel like it was a compliment so we dropped the wise part.

I just made that up.  I just thought it made more sense than the "Jimmy crack corn" thing.  Was that song really that popular?  Why pick out the word "crack"?  If I were alive back then, I'd have used the word "Jimmy" or "Corny" or something.  Either way, I have no idea how the word is offensive to anybody.  Come to think about it, I don't really see how the word "Nigger" is offensive, anymore.  I guess I'm desensitized to it.  The only thing that offends me is the actual feeling behind the words.  If you feel like my race is uneducated or inferior, I could be offended if you called me anything.  It's the thought and the implications that matter.
