Why would I buy a WiiU for GTAV when my PS3 or 360 can play it?

No. GTA V (among others) would convince you to buy a Wii U for it would prove Nintendo will get full third party support this time. Makes more sense that way, huh?

OT: Why not? The only thing that could stop Rockstar from making a port for the Wii U would be a general lack of trust in Nintendo platforms. And this is just what Nintendo wants to tackle with the Wii U. GTA V, Assassin's Creed 3, Resident Evil 6, Call of Duty... all of those can be easily ported to the Wii U. If Nintendo can get them all they'll get the "core" gamers, too. It's like Pokemon but with gaming franchises

I know what you are saying WiiU is the "Mario box" + 3rd party but it will be released holyday 2012 and 6 months later Sony and MS will announce their new consoles (maybe a  2014 release date but who the hell knows), in the meantime until the 2014 release date PS360 can still play current titles and then when the new consoles come they will make the switch. I really think the diference between WiiU power and nextgen consoles will be the same as the Wii with current consoles.

I see where you're coming from but I doubt there will be a huge difference in power. The current HD consoles clearly overshot the market back when they were released. Sony and Microsoft will a) try to avoid overshooting next generation and b) try to avoid selling their consoles at a loss. I expect the Wii U to launch at $349 and the other consoles to launch at $399 one year later. They'll be more powerful but most likely in the PS2 - Xbox range (the Xbox was roughly 2x as powerful as the PS2) since Microsoft and Sony will include big HDD's and most likely Blu-Ray players in their platforms which Nintendo won't. I guess we'll see Wii U / PS4 / Xbox 3 multiplats with the Wii U version probably running at a lower native resolution (600p vs 720p... or 540p vs 1080p in extreme cases) and sporting lower res textures. In the end third parties will benefit from multiplatform releases and a smaller jump in processing power as they'll want to keep development costs as low as possible on a userbase as large as they can get.

Time will tell, 9 years is a big gap in power.

i think its gonna be exclusive personally. ive seen many signs of this. the "timely reveal" of GTAV, the graphics of the game looks like its 1080p minimum and there is only one system that can do 1080p native and that is the Wii U. It would make the majority of the "kids" on this site if that happends since the majority of them obviously hates nintendo.

dick cheney loves me, he wants to take me hunting

mkwii code- 1977-0565-0049

Maybe, really seems pointless when it'll sell like COD though, 1m on WiiU, 10 on Sony/MS machines each ...

It's funny because GTA is probably one of the least mature titles there is.

Kids love guns, blood and sex

OT: it will easily be a success if they just released a 2D Mario on launch as well
I have no idea if it will come or not and I don’t know what percentage to give it but I hope it does. Not that I would buy it but my brother will for sure

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Which is also why they buy games like CoD: Guns, blood and teabagging :P

Which is an extra $60 million (basing it on the weak dollar here!) in revenue for what is unlikely to be all that much work (recalling that the Darksiders guys said took a 4-man team 3 weeks or so to get Darksiders II up and running), and even the initial work serves as an investment in knowledge of how to port to the Wii U later.

The other difference being that Wii CoD's are feature-stripped and not worth buying. Presumably GTAV would have relative feature parity (with the possibility of more Microsoft dlc moneyhatting), and therefore more reason to sell more in line with other platforms' versions.

Unless Rockstar, as a Western developer with some sense of pride, chooses to forego debasing itself by working on a Nintendo platform at all in the 8th gen. Especially after Nintendo and Nintendo fans spit on their masterwork that was Chinatown Wars

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
