Good third party support is critical for securing future success and taking the pressure off first and second party developers. Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Wii and the Nintendo portables endured substandard third party support. |
Ubi makes JD, The most popular 3rd party series on the WIi, so im not sure what you are on about, and no GC and N64 did not get substantard support, plenty of popular games got ported to both those systems. Resident Evil, Soul Calibur, Medal of Honor, TimeSplitters, Spider-man, the list goes on and on. Wii got the shaft, but it does have the biggest library of the three, and that wasnt all Ninty's doing

Someone still believe that 3rd parties don't do well on Nintendo platform. LOL. |
That last paragraph is just really making it look like everything about 3rd parties in "confessions of a nintendo insider" were true.

Company whose games don't do very well complains that if they released them on Wii U they wouldn't do very well...... hmmm.
There are plenty of examples on the wii of developers who put a proper effort and budget into a game and got great sales on it. Epic Mickey? Over 2.5 million. Monster hunter Tri? Over 2 million and best selling console MH game.
Here's a surprise as well. Call of duty 3 that actually launched at the same time as the 360 and PS3 versions managed to over 2 million. Outselling the PS3 version and not far behind the 360 version. They then neglected to release MW (the game that made CoD explode in popularity) on the system for years and didn't bother with MW2. Then brought out gimped versions of the other games and were surprised they didn't perform well.
Yes there are examples like the Conduit that failed. However it was a new sci-fi IP by a relatively unknown (and not well viewed) studio. There are plenty of examples of games on 360/Ps3 that also failed like Shadows of the Damned.
Too many companies simply tried to throw out cheap versions of HD games that didn't use the wii controls well.
