Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN: No used Games on Next Xbox

Highly unlikely imo. I think the ps4 and xbox720 will be closer than ever in terms of specs and features (assuming xbox has blueray) and something like this would go a long way to deciding an undecided console buyer against the xbox if it didnt allow used games. Add to that the possible backlash from used games stores and it wouldnt make for a happy console. Its more likely to be an online features (such as sony and other co. use) OR a code system logging online.

Thats just outright stupid, its bad enough we have SOPA but now they're targeting used games? Its just another way to control how we spend our own money. MS could potentialy bomb if this were to be true. Taking away the option which by no means is pirating, of reselling a game (which the developer already made money off of) to another seller is going to be catastrophic to companies like gamefly, and potentialy netflix since they're planning to provide a rental service much like gamefly.

that's funny once cliff bleszinski was bitching about the used games market beucse not everyone is buying the game new blablabla. then i asked him what he will do with his lamborghini (yes he is earning so less money because of the used market that he only drives a lambo) when he will buy a new one. i don't think he will destroy the car and if he will sell it to someone the guy buying the used lambo won't buy a new car anymore.

i asked him why the hell he can sell whatever he wants if he doesn't like it anymore bitching about other people doing the same with his game but yeah i got no asnwer^^

lol What a dweeb. Thats all hear from this guy, nothing but whining.

I doubt it is true. If they did decide to go that route it would be the dumbest decision they could ever make.

Implementing such a system would kill game sales. Knowing that your game has no value after purchase, most gamers would limit themselves to one game a year (example COD) instead of taking chances with new IP's,

It would also lead to massive pirating on the console since people won't want to deal with that sort of bs

The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers

There is no way this can be true. This would just cause people to buy less new games for Microsoft's console. Hell, it would cause people to buy less consoles too.

So then the world finds out there is more to life than video games and people move on and the entire industry goes through another crash? Hmm...

So you are saying it will make do difference? Because most people already only get 1-3 games a year and ignore new IPs

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Hm...

assuming every console manufacturer implemented a system like this I'd probably still buy a console, but I woudn't buy nearly as many games as I did this gen.

lol kotaku
seriously too many rumors, someone must be trolling us

The only thing I can imagine "working", would pe pure digital distribution. No way to get games used that way.
Not to mention lack of option to sell the game after you're done with it (maybe at least they'll do rentals then, like OnLive does).

I don't think Sony would implement system like this. In Japan that would be completly unacceptable.
