At this point I don't even know what the hell is going on. It could be any number of variables so I'm just going to keep my mouth shut and wait until we get the financial reports from Sony and MS give their financial records.

 

EDIT: I will say this though. These new figures that we have gotten pretty much mean the 66 million figure is shipped consoles.

i believe this is the most likely scenario,  there shipment gaps have been in the mid 2M range in the past as i posted the other day even for sony and N they have had big shipment/sold gaps before so its very likely for this to be the case no with MS, especially with recent NPD numbers putting the PS3/360 US gap much smaller then VGC

it possible that 360 could be under tracked in EU though, but i believe not to the extent that that's where all the remaining consoles went

kinda weird since all the MS global announcments ive check VGC has as sold in the timeframe they were announced, it can also mean 65 something rounded up aswell
