Zelda in HD looked epic *-*!

I wanna see Mario in HD!

didn't we already answer that years ago?  mario in HD could only possibly look like this:

Link didnt look like that in the demo D:

That's because that pic's of Mario, not link. Durh.

Haha ;(

No I mean, HD doesnt mean it has to look realistic, also this is how Mario would look like if Naughty Dog made him.

oh no, i was absoutly assured that HD graphics are only good for photo realism and that the wii was amazing despite its SD output because HD couldn't possibly make it look any better.  i'm sure any mintue now loads of nintendo fans will quote me about how this zelda demo looks no better than what was on the wii because they couldn't care less about HD graphics -- those are only for whores.

Oh yeah the street demo we heard about lol forgot about that XP

Gonna go watch right now

I thought I heard the street demo was supposed to be system rendered, that looked like it was shot by a camera

Anyone got a clue??

It's rendered look closely at the cars it's offscreen so it's harder to tell, it's a demonstration on the system's multitasking and Panaramic view, the U is playing a demo and sending it to the TV and the controller (remember that the controller is not a tablet the is no CPU or GPU in it, it does no work on its own), it's allowing to controller to freely look around at any viewpoint with out affecting the view on the screen despite them showing the exact same demo it's a very smart idea.

I love how you can switch viewing angle an lighting in the Zelda demo.

It will likely not sell anywhere near the original wii due to the already massive tablet market. Obviously they recognize this being a problem, as they are trying to distance the system from being labeled a tablet of any kind. We know the M$ is probably already putting together a software update that will enable all windows 8 tablets to link to the nextbox and thus eliminate nintendo's thunder a bit if not entirely. It will depend on how portable the wiiU controller is without the system. We will have to wait til summer to have a real good idea of the true specs of the wiiU.

Dont even think that a software update will be required. Already have capability for Xbox Companion devices.  Just need an app that supports the gameplay functionality desired. A phone or tablet with front and rear facing cameras will do the trick.

Not saying you are wrong but without a d-pad, buttons etc.,  a tablet can never quite "do the trick".

Some games, yes. For others a tablet will be found severely lacking and take away significantly from the gameplay.

I do however see your point. Vita and tablet apps can do the same to PS3.

As ladyguy said this is all rather speculative and when we get a more indepth look at the wii u capabilities then better conclusions can be drawn.

And since tablets and phones are multi-touch they will be able to do things that the Wii U cant as well.  We wont know which is better for quite some time.

Totally agree.

Hang on!!... I thought the wii u controller was (1)multi-touch and can work (2)with or without a stylus. I don't know.

Yeah, let's wait and see.

1. its not

2. it can

like DS and 3DS

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Wow that city tour thing looked amazing! Was that really rendered by the system, and not real-life footage? :o

It's probably the same technology as what they used for google street view, but just a little more high tech since you can 360 at any moment.

It's probably some kind of camera array that views at many angles at high frequency so when you're in the game you can access those shots depending on the gyro angle. I could be wrong but that's what it looked like.

@cheebee, it seemed to be real-life images and reels, not rendered.

Its real video of a street, but the video captured is basically with cameras shooting 360 degrees of vision, so you can move your perspective around the "3d" space with a second virtual camera. If that makes sense......

Kinda like Virtual Reality, but its not a helmet, and its a real capture of the real world.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
