there would still be online gaming. last gen, xbox was the only console with good online, but this gen, online would have been a natural progression. its obvious. we didnt need microsoft for that. yet people are still willing to pay them fifty dollars a year for nothing. whatever. the market is the market i guess so cant complain about that too much.

to tackle your second point, i do want to sell first party games used, and i do encourage it quite successfully, but you brought up third parties and how it doesnt follow that i would punish them for making a game on the 'wrong' console. but so many of them are now locking out single player content. i have not heard of microsoft supporting this directly, but i am sure they are up to no good. you know how they are. sony, i do remember them saying they were going to practice this, although i think they just recently said they werent, so who knows. third party games are doing this though, and i am not going to support them. i am going to screw them out of every single new sale i can.

last point about skyward sword. there is a key difference you are missing. skyward sword and nintendo are actually enhancing gameplay experience with the wii motion plus. not to mention all wiis sold for the past year to year and a half come with motion plus already. so many people already dont have to pay extra for it. on the other hand, these fuckers are claiming that your extra ten dollars are going to help them "enhance the online experience," which we all know is BULLSHIT. and this goes for every game that they decide to pull this with. nintendo and skyward sword are not trying to kill off the used market, so yes there is a HUGE difference. you cant tell me that you dont see it?

So you punish all 3rd party developers because some do what Batman Arkham City did?  Because I can only really think of that one example.  Telling me that you're punishing NISA because of what Warner Bros. is doing?  And won't third parties do the exact same thing on Wii U once they have an online system capable of it?

Alright so you have a reason to dislike what Sony does with the activation Fee for online, but I know for a fact you did this long before that was an issue so don't act like that's the reason you started this habbit.

If Nintendo can charge extra for having a new control scheme why can't MS charge extra for having a fantastic online system.  Yeah Nintendo gives theirs away for free but it's nowhere near as feature laiden or general quality as MS's so that doesn't mean much.  Perhaps if Nintendo actually put that kind of effort into their online they'd charge for it too.

first of all all ea games are doing it: battlefield, madden, rage does it, homefront has it, its about getting ridiculous.

and ok, you caught me, i did it long before online pass was even presented to us, but the point is that i sony and microsoft suck and i want to sell their stuff used, and nintendo are the true masters of the industry, and im going to help them out in whatever way i can.

and third, i tried explaining to you the difference between actually enhancing gameplay vs acting like youre trying to enhance something when really, youre trying to kill the used market. now youre changing it to motion plus vs constantly paying for online. well, again, every wii that has launched since 2010 comes with a motion plus, so a huge portion of people already get it for free. and games like wii sports resort and tiger woods pga 10 came with it already packed in at no extra cost. so there are a few ways in which nintendo didnt even charge for it. if you already have a wiimote, you can just buy one for 15 to 20 dollars. a ONE time charge for you to play ANY motion plus game you want. or you can just get the effing game you want with it already bundled. compare that to microsofts raping you for 8 dollars a month just to play online. consider that nintendo actually made something that ENHANCES the gameplay experience. microsoft is not taking your 8 a month, or 50 a year and using it to improve the experience you are having. its not worth it, especially when you have ps3's online to compare it to which is JUST AS GOOD.

and i seriously doubt nintendo would ever charge somebody just to play !!JUST TO PLAY!! online. that is absurd.

Ok, preorders keep raising but slowly, at this rate it will reach 175k, but it will slow down in a few weeks and will pick up again near its launch. I think it can reach 200k after all, and that is a pretty good number for a JRPG that is not final fantasy.

I hope that number looks good to Nintendo also.

Where is here at? Do you have actual game stores where you are at?

Costa Rica. Yes, there are several game stores, but unless the game is mario, zelda, COD or PES/Fifa good luck finding any other game... And games cost between $60 to $80 average...

there is no way i would change my mind about this. the wii is the best console and i want all the best games for it. i always buy my wii games new on purpose so i can give the money to the developer. in fact, when i used to work at gamestop i used to try to get the customers to buy all the wii games new and all the 360/ps3 games used. i was pretty good at it.

if they brought up a newly released used wii game i would just say, 'well for five dollars more you can get a new copy, want to just do that?' similarly if they brought up a new copy of a newly released 360/ps3 game, i would just tell them, 'well for five dollars less, you could just get a used copy and you even have a seven day warranty if you dont like it.'

it was awesome. so yes, you dont have to worry about me, my money is going to nintendo on this one.

well excuse me for trying to utilize the tiniest bit of influence i have over the industry.

look, torillian, your set of values is a little different than mine, but that doesn't mean yours is right. microsoft and sony are nothing but LEECHES on this industry. they in no way care about the consumer as evidenced by their support of things like online pass and now locking out single player content for people who buy the game used is an ALL TIME LOW.

so, yes, i am going to try to screw these developers out of every new sale that i can. its the right thing to do.

I like the irony here, the reason online passes have come into existence is because of used game sales, and here you are going out of your way to make the PS3/360 get more used sales....

ah, i see that you believe it is used game sales that have brought online pass into existence, but this isnt so. many developers think that used game sales are killing their sales, so they try to take some measure against that, this is true, but the real thing that has brought online pass into existence is the internet and our consoles being so closely tied to it. it is seen as a new avenue to screw us over, which is very sad. :(

the fact is that the used game market and the new game market have been rising side by side in a very cohesive way for the past 20 to 30 years. so the used market has never been killing the new. i dont see why it would all the sudden now. if anything the used market stimulates the new. think of how many people across the world who trade in their games to get a new one because they dont have enough money, or they want to save some money. used games stimulate new sales. used games have never been a detriment to any developer, and if they have you believing that the used market is some sort of threat, then they have you completely fooled.

Wait until you see how many people are going to pirate this...

The lack of sales will give NOA a reason to never bring a game like this over again.  :(

Yes, the game was pirated 1 million times, but that doesn't mean 1 million people downloaded it and played it illegally.
There is a (tiny) percent that bought the game and then played on Dolphin because they didn't want to mod their Wii's and the fact that sometimes same user do multiple downloads, be it for corrupted data or cancel the download or for the sake of it.But yeah, it was heavily pirated anyway.
As for me, I bought a PAL copy and softmodded my wii to play it, and let me tell you is my 3rd best game of all time, is THAT good.

Also, I don't think Nintendo only ports from PAL to NTSC , I saw a trailer in the Operation Rainfall facebook page and the voice of Shulk was definetely not british so I'm sure they are doing all the voices again so that would explain why the game releases on April

This will be great! Plus it is not only about the game I think. Depending on how good this does is a mirror or could be a mirror of how good the Wii is the rest of the year in America and maybe even Europe. I do not know what else is on for Japan other than Maybe Mario Part 1000 and Dragon Quest, but in America I am pretty sure that we have nothing but shovelware and a few other small games to look forward to. if this does well nintendo could push out other imported games for us to feast on throughout the year up until Christmas time, or December 21st. ;)

Reggie did say that they would be supporting the Wii still. If there are really no games from Nintendo on the horizon for the Wii other than Mario Party, then they have to support it in some other way. Price is about as low as it can go I think for now. Maybe 79.99 next Christmas or something like that. Bundles can still be reduced as I think some are still 129.99-149.99.

What do you think about that?

I think i gave you the wrong idea with how I phrased my post

I'm very very VERY excited about xenoblade and hope it succeeds and allows a localization of last story

i was just looking at sales for xenoblade so far as well as skyward sword

I just managed to preorder my copy at an EBgames store in Canada. It was a bit of a pain in the ass getting to that point though. If you ask to preorder Xenoblade Chronicles you will get told that it isn't in their system. Thankfully I found the SKU so here it is for other Canadians wishing to order from a store. SKU 705128

Hope this helps. I was going to start a topic on this but I don't post enough so I couldn't. :(
