Media Create is only slightly higher at 325k
So the 500k sellouts + 200k extra was a lie?

Media Create Reports 325,000 Units Sold For PlayStation Vita
Media Create will release its full set of weekly sales stats early tomorrow (actually around midnight tonight), but the firm has given advanced stats to the press.
Vita sold 325,000 units in its first week (covering the 17th and 18th), according to Media Create stats (as reported at IT Media). This is similar to the 321,000 unit figure that Enterbrain reported earlier in the week.
Media Create estimates that the system's sell-through rate is 65%. This is based off an estimate of 500,000 units shipped, which matches a figure shared in a column that was posted to Nikkei earlier today (it's possible that the Nikkei column was based off Media Create's shipment estimates).
Media Create CEO Atsushi Hosokawa provided some commentary on the initial performance. "The shipment was abundant, so it seems that there were hardly any reports of inability to buy due to shortages. Regarding sold units, to be honest we would like to have seen it sell a bit more, but you can say that it reached a certain level of success."
Hosokawa blamed the relatively slow start on price, noting that when you include a game and required accessories, the system ends up costing 40,000 yen. He also noted that the system did not have a system seller at launch.
One other factor could be holding back the Vita: its predecessor, the PSP. Sony sold 60,000 units of the aging hardware this past week, Hosokawa said.

But you bring up the biggest POTENTIAL problem of the Vita, something the PSP suffered from forever. And that is games. I see in this topic many brought up Call of Duy. Ha, first how has call of duty done in past on handhelds? Second, why would someone get call of duty twice. IF they already have the game on ps3 or 360, why get it on vita as well. If Vita doesn't get a good catelog of UNIQUE games, they are in a world of hurt. What do they have worth getting right now? Uncharted. Is that it? |
Previous versions of CoD for handhelds were retarded dumbed down ports. This will be first same as HD version portable CoD.

The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time 3D was a fully fledged console enchanced Zelda, and still sold moderately. And by the Gods, I shudder to think playing a FPS in a portable, even with 2 analogs...
I really hope Vita pulls its game together, Nintendo is 10x stronger and better when in a tough spot. But I highly doubt it; without a MEGA hit like Pokemon, Mario, Monster Hunter or Dragon Quest, Vita is destined to fare (much) worse than PSP in my eyes...

OoT on 3DS is one of best selling remakes of old game ever. Seriously look at sales of other portable remakes and this one was huge success.
